I think Chris Priestly blaming the fans for expressing their views on a community forum is just beyond the pale. I found his comments inflammatory and unworthy of a great gaming company. What happened to the maxim “the customer is always right”? Chris Priestly could have just acknowledged the fans opinions and be done with it.
This whole episode has left a sour taste in my mouth and has taken the gloss off the launch next week. I am no longer looking forward as much to the release.

Awesome, and yes Chris, the complainers do owe us
Why? Did you ever doubt that they were going to "win" this one too? Just like they've "won" the demo stunt (with those 250.000 downloads in 2 hours)?
Really?

I don't want to sound like a jerk but I'm curious... why should somebody who refused to participate, with a few of them saying that people who did participate were corporate tools, receive the (hypothetical) participation prize?
Because that's what happened with the demo. And the FB comp was put up under the same terms. If people who didn't download the demo get the first two tomes, why shouldn't people who didn't participate in the FB promo get the third one? The comps were not announced as a participation prize , which might have gone "recommend this game to X of your friends and we will give you, the recommender, a prize"; it was announced as "these are the numbers you are aiming for; now go get them."
Look, Bioware is obviously trying to see what WEb 2.0 marketing strategies will work, and what won't. To do that, they are trying these publicity-DLC deals, and seeing how people react to them. So the company gets vaulable information no matter what the reaction is. Perhaps next time they'll use direct rather than stat based prize strategies. Or not - those tend to have much lower uptake rates, historically.
Also, you don't sound like a jerk. I hope I don't either.

Christ, and I thought all the people who didn't take part would be the ones that unintentionally cost us the extra shares needed.

And extra weirdness... as I was reading the updated first post, I didn't even realize that the DA2 commercial was on Comedy Central right infront of me.
