It's almost impossible. Even if the 300k people that like Dragon Age both share and like it, it'll never reach 1 million...

50,000 a day does seem like quite a bit of work. It does feel rather doubtful... well... regardless, I'll share the daily posts. not exactly liking this trend of gamers doing all the marketing, but i'll share it. Only just cos i'm an xbox silver member and DL the demo late. :P

Ugh this social media marketing is getting out of hand. I realize that your (EA?) marketing team is trying to push the product in an innovative way, however I think it's time to reevaluate your marketing strategy. Fun promotions, like the demo challenge, that reward the fans are cool, but pimping your fans to market your product over Facebook is not cool.

That said I'm not even sure what a Facebook impression is, but I think it means that when we share your Facebook post, your post appears in the newsfeed of everyone on our friends list that hasn't blocked us and if it appears in their newsfeed it's an "impression" because they can see it. So assuming each of us has 100 friends it would take 10,000 people per day sharing your posts to reach the 1 million impressions per day. And we have to do this FOUR days in a row!

I'm a BioWare fanboy so I'm playing along, but know that I think that this is really bad marketing strategy if you're trying to NOT alienate your fans.

Good luck, you'll need it. Sure it's only a few days, but to hit 1,000,000 on the first day for every single post? Nah. I don't like polluting my FaceBook (that I don't particularly want).

Am I missing something or does this seem somewhat impossible?

The worst part is that we're all whoring ourselves out for this (or at least considering it, or already decided to be conscientious objectors) and one of a very few things will result:
1.  "Success" according to the terms already set.  Every BW/EA game from now until the end of time will have at _least_ this much Facebook/social media/"download this"/"view this" crap.
2.  "failure" according to the terms already set.  BW/EA might "give" us the reward for a sufficiently valiant effort, or might change the terms retroactively to match results.  (Exactly how are things really being measured?  Does anyone have strong reasons to believe that the previous demo download counter was both precise and accurate?)
3.  Something else weird *could* happen...but I dunno what.

None of those gives the real desired result...which is that BW stops trying to make us all into more of a culture of attention ****s than we already are, and stops spending the marketing budget on "let the proles do it for us".  And yes, before you ask I *am* already liking and sharing this crap on Facebook...which is itself frightening since I've managed to stay away from that wretched hive of scum and villainy for all these years...

EDIT:  whoring is acceptable to badword filter, but w___es is not.  Neat.  Need to work on verbing more nouns.

For some reason the Tool song, "Hooker with a Penis," comes to mind.  I'd feel like a total sellout douche-bag for spamming DA2 on Facebook in this manner.  Not going to happen on my end.

The facebook challenge is very hard to overcome I think for the demo download challenge we had a chance but this new challenge is overwhelming.I think Bioware is testing the waters to see how far they can go.So far the download challenge has been satisfactorily cleared.

I agree with both of you. I mean the amount of people on here who hate facebook, plus the lack of fans on the DA facebook, makes this impossible and cruel to us fans.

I can't see any crime in this. Social networks are rapidly expanding all over the world so why not use the opportunity to advertise the game.

Because we are being USED to advertise their product over Facebook. I love their product, but half the people on my friends list could care less, so now I'm SPAMMING their newsfeeds with advertisements of a product they're not interested in.

I don't mind spreading the word for a product that I have loved playing over and over again. I am eagerly anticipating DA2 and if my sharing the post on Facebook helps to get more items or build greater interest in something I love, so that they make even more games I love...why not. We try something new and don't think twice about telling family or friends, go to a movie, try a new restaurant, that latest piece of technology. I don't see this being any different. Now if you hated the game I could see why you would be reluctant to do this. Also for me this is revenge for all those effing farmville, whoville, shoeville ect. ad nauseum post I have to put up with from all my friends who enjoy playing those.

Not taking part in this. I can see why this may be seen as a good marketing strategy, with how popular sites like that are with people. But as has been said many times in this thread already, I am not going to push my own interests on other people, some of whom I know for a fact have no interest in this kind of thing at all. Not everyone I know is a Gamer.

Sure, they can ignore /block it if they are not interested, but thats not the point. Spamming friends and Family with adds is not something I am comfortable with. Would I mention DA2 to gamer friends and Family? yes! but not like this...

The only facebook thing for DA2 I am looking at is Legends, and I will even think twice about that if it also spams friends with random rubbish.

Actually, no. You are not being used. It's not like BW have you at a gun point. The choise is yours. So it's you who are spamming friends.  By your very own will. And not BW by your hands.

We aren't being forced to participate dypa40k, which is what the held at gunpoint phrase implies. We are being used to market the game and we are being rewarded for that with an in-game item. It's not some super evil scheme, it's just a marketing tool that's intended to engage the fans and have them actively advertise the product. Four days of spamming my friends is too much, however a single day of Facebook spam would've been reasonable. Either way our constructive feedback is helpful to the dev for future marketing plans. In the meantime I shall continue to spam my friends despite my feelings about the challenge because I love me some DLC;p

I'm sad to see BioWare's integrity is dropping. Asking fans to help the marketing is uncool. :/
