We aren't being forced to participate dypa40k, which is what the held at gunpoint phrase implies. We are being used to market the game and we are being rewarded for that with an in-game item. It's not some super evil scheme, it's just a marketing tool that's intended to engage the fans and have them actively advertise the product. Four days of spamming my friends is too much, however a single day of Facebook spam would've been reasonable. Either way our constructive feedback is helpful to the dev for future marketing plans. In the meantime I shall continue to spam my friends despite my feelings about the challenge because I love me some DLC;p

Well, it's more like philosophical question of terms.
In your previous post it 'sounded' a little more agressive. Like "We are being used, people! Open your eyes!" (-8
Anyway - you ARE being used for advertisement. But on the other hand you are not being used for advertisement, you are knowingly advertising for benefit.
Something like that. (-8

Why? If you have a resource, you should use it. What's wrong with that?
As darth shango said: "It's not some super evil scheme". And I completely agree.

sorry but no thanks. I have already garnered sales of DA:O and DA2 to my friends through good old word of mouth.

so by now all my friends who are interested in DA style games will have pre-ordered DA2, and I refuse to cram it down the throats of my friends and family like that pushy sales guy at every clothing store in the mall.

a few friends downloaded the demo, who usually dont get these types of games, and a few liked it.. I have done my part

end of....

Well I can say I didn't partake in the new challenge, it's just crossing the line for me personally. Glad people are taking one for the team though, but I don't expect this to go through. From the impressions and feedback it looks nothing short of a trainwreck.

No facebook for me. Hayder's Razor already in my promotions list, as soon as I finished Demo (PC)
Preordered Signature Edition, so now waiting to see how many more downloads I'll have to do when the game arrives

Using a resource and exploiting it are two different things, my friend.
Are we [the consumer] being exploited? Well, even I wouldn't go that far, but if you don't feel that something is off about this situation, then I would guess you just don't care.

So you guys that choose not to participate on facebook - what about the extra items you get by playing Dragon Age Legends? You want to miss them too?

I probably will. From all I've heard it will takes weeks and the purchase of money in Legends using real money to obtain the exclusive items.  So no, I won't be doing Legends.

well Legends is still in Beta less than a week away from DA2 release date, and even though we have been asking about the unlock items in the Legends forums, it seems the company doesnt give a rats arse and wont even respond.

So I am gonna go out on a limb and say forget those unlocks, we may get them in May sometime

they're going to realize at the end of this that this was beyond impossible.

In which case it needs to be a free DLC given to all of us just because of this. 300,000 people like it, but almost all of them probably don't give a rat's ass about sharing and liking this.

Facebook is not a way to advertise your promotions if you're making the gaming community do the work. Companies are supposed to promote the stuff, not us.

All that is documented about the items are the names and basic artwork...we don't really know how powerful or useful they will be, or what hoops have to be jumped through to obtain them.  I'd guess that the unlocks won't be documented (at this rate) until after DA2 release, but I might at least get the easy ones for my first playthrough.

Side note:  The unlocks from Dragon Age Journeys (predecessor/similar Flash game) for DA:O were all "unauthenticated" DLC on the PC...so anyone who wanted them could download them and install them manually without ever finishing all the DA:J quests.  I got 2 of 3 legitimately, and decided my Flash game "fun meter" was pegged already so I manually installed the third.

I still don't see how people could ever come to that conclusion. Who knows? They might ask the impossible from us on purpose. It's still marketing, even if they never even created said item. I don't think the game would miss anything without it really. The item is an extra, not a requirement.\\

wouldn't that sorta be false advertising? If so, false advertising is not a good idea. While it is just an extra, the promise of us getting an item if we do something, only to find out they never had any intention of giving us the item because they didn't create it, would be disastrous. It's liable to be taken to court, though a person who would sue for lack of a minor item is pretty odd in the head. Though it follows the law, it's not really worth it.

Course, that's if it would be in fact false advertising. I'm not really sure how a false "free item" would fit into that.

Taking Bioware to small claims court Posted Image  Anyone would probably be better off just playing the game.
