This is probably just a test to see if people are willing to do it, and whether or not it is an effective form of advertising.
However, I am not sure whether or not we will get this "tome" regardless of whether or not we achieve the goal they have placed.

I would think BioWare would be cool enough to realize their asking way too much to get a million ppl in 4 days time to like one post, and that they would give the tome to those of us who did the demo thing, but I have the feeling EA won't even consider it unless we're really close to the BS of a goal they gave us.
Personally i created a facebook account just too add my number to the list of ppl who tried, but 1 million ppl in a week for the demo i thought was pushing it, let alone the same number in less time than that on a website not everyone who plays BioWarel/EA games is interested in. So i can say I tried but i knew this was going to fail harder than the Steelers at the Super Bowl.
P.S. i am a steelers fan through and through they just beat themselves. maybe next time.

I really don't like the idea of this.
I think it's a cheap way to market the game.
I'm out.

Even though I use facebook, I hate the idea of this promo. It ammounts to spamming and doing lazy ass marketers jobs for them.
Besides, as pointed out, with the thousands of people who dislike facebook, but have EA accounts, how are Bioware going to know who's helped and who hasn't? It'll end up just like the previous promo where we'll get an 'Oh we've made it with the sudden appearence of 300,000 downloads! Lets give everyone the books!'.

As far as I m aware, and please don't judge or abuse if I get it wrong, but 1 million impressions a day on each DA2 official post is not that far a stretch. People are saying you have to 'like' the post, but Bioware website states you have to 'share'. Now if I have e.g. 100 friends, and I 'share' the post, that is 100 impressions. It can't be that hard to hit 1 million a day, considering how popular Facebook is. With regard to peeps saying this is "low of Bioware", "why should I advertise for them", "pathetic marketing" - personally I think you are all wrong (even though they are your opinions, of which you are entitled) I think its genius marketing. Getting your customers to advertise for you with a promise of reward...genius. I have worked in marketing and they have a product to sell, targets to hit etc. A successful business is a known and recognised business, so why not advertise through THE biggest website/ social network in the world today? Funny thing about marketing, whether you like an idea/ advert or hate it, everyone still talks about it and spreads the word. Sorry for the ramble...

As much as I would like to help I hate facebook and have no intention of using it. Downloading a demo is one thing, but this...

My only complaint is (probably because I don't know Facebook very well) is I can't see anyway to track the progress. Demo counter was fab, when it worked, but I guess we have to wait untill the 4th to find out.

Facebook is a pain, I'm still doing the challenge and I'll still play the app but ONLY long enough to unlock the items and even then it bothers me. The basic *idea* of the challenge is fine, and actually kind of fun, but forcing everyone who wishes to participate to use facebook? *ick* to say the least.
Facebook is *AWFUL* with user privacy and information security, they are so bad that I have to disable some of my basic FireFox security add-ons just to be able to load facebook at all.
The games and challenges are great, I just really hope they keep them off of third party sites in the future. (also as a side note: the post on facebook said they need to get 1mill "shares" per post, not "likes" and not a combination of the two. This makes things even more confusing especially for those who don't use facebook or who don't spend a lot of time online. It's just another example of the drawbacks created by using a third party site rather than hosting this directly)

I don't really care whether we achieve this million-impression target or not.
I love Bioware, adore their games to death all the way back since KOTOR, and played the DA2 demo to death.
But I refuse to pay for the Sebastian DLC and will NOT be spamming my friends on Facebook with this ridiculous promotion. Ever.

i dont know how it works, but i went to it on facebook and shared it. then i waited a few minutes and deleted my post.... i'm supposed to keep my FB clear of things like this (per an agreement of my own personal nature), but i hope it worked to count it.

I don't use Facebook as a rule, except for this kind of promotion which a lot of game and movie companies are using to spread word. Considering its free, and a simple click, I can't argue that its a bad thing.

I've haven't been reading this page to much as of late so this question may have already been addressed. My complete and utter disdain for myfacebook prevents me from helping with the campaign on said mediums. Do I have to have an account to get the swag?

They want 1mil *per post* *each day* for this challenge, that's quite a bit really because it's not cumulative like the Demo was. It might be more likely to actually happen if there were some more details on what the tome did and/or if both "likes" and "shares" counted but lacking both of those... we'll I'm still hopeful but not so optimistic
@Ay01
the new tome will be game unlocked if there the goal is met so you don't need a facebook account for that (just enough other players using them
) however there are five in game items that can be unlocked via the Dragon Age Legends facebook App (game) which you *do* have to have a facebook account (and have apps enabled which bleeds your personal data all over the internet at a high rate) to be able to get those items.
I suppose BioWare may open up some option to get those other five bits of swag later down the line, but as of now there are things you have to use facebook to have access to

As far as I am aware you just need a Bioware account, and hope everyone else will succeed in reaching said milestone. I don't think they will be awarding the tomb to only those that shared the posts. I did it just in case. DLC horder as I am.

what's next, film a commercial to get a special dagger in the game?

I think the Ring of Whispers dlc is worse, as you have to spend over 15 bucks on the EpicWeapons site to unlock it. At least the Facebook items are free.
