On a side note: Do those books actually add something to read to the codex, or do they simply provide XP/money/runes?

Lol i was making everyone with facebook enter and share, but i will not get the reward..epic fail for me

I'm mildly - MILDLY - annoyed about the tone of the whole who-deserves-it
discussion.
Speaking for myself, Bioware asked for my help publicising their game. I didn't
want to do it the way it was offered, and explained why. I also explained how
the kind of publicity I did/would help with. I don't call that whinging, I call
it feedback.
I’m actually pretty irritated for the reasons you mention above.
As you say, those of us who actually went onto this very forum and said “I don’t like this” are being portrayed as whingers.
As Soj says, it’s called feedback and then we get comments like this:

Gee, thanks Chris.
Firstly, I’d like to point out that I feel no sense of debt to anyone on these boards.
Secondly, “complaining”? It’s called feedback.
I’d have thought that you’d value that, given that it’s your job to be the community guy… so … for future reference… only post if you are singing the high praises of Bioware. Legimate comment gets you belittled by Bioware staff. Awesome.
And let’s be honest here… this was clearly a marketing ploy that split the community. Look at the number of
negative comments. So let’s not pretend that this was merely a vocal minority.
To quote from a previous discussion about fans wanting control over the story, Bioware is not my ****. But I'm not their's either. What I owe them is the cash for the game.
I’d like to expand a little on this point Soj makes…
Well, I feel I do owe Bioware a little more. Owning BG 1 & 2, NWN 1 & 2, KTOR 1 & 2, ME 1 & 2 and now DA, (plus all the DLC to go with the later games) I’ve been a huge fan. I’m something of an evangelist. I’ll talk about Bioware until the cows come home. I feel they’re a part of my gaming history, perhaps the biggest part.
But to then have it implied that I somehow owe people for a single piece of free DLC? You have got to be kidding me.
Bioware, you are an awesome studio. I remember all of your titles fondly.
However, this promotion was a little low for my tastes (and looking at the forum posts, a good number agree).
In order to get people like Chris (it’s a shame to feel compelled to write that about the most vocal member of staff) to quit with the “owing” line, I’m more than happy to forfeit my free DLC.
However, here’s an idea, how’s about throwing the community a freebie that doesn’t involve spamming friends and family?

Thanks Chris and
BioWare/EA...most of us love you deep down, even if you think you loathe us,
heh.
I’m not sure why you’re thanking Chris:

I wonder if anyone wants to moan now. Maybe they should thank?
For what exactly?
A piece of DLC I had already resigned myself to not having?
CK, I think it’s time you learnt to differentiate between moans and feedback. You did, after all, claim to have worked in marketing.

I don't know if you agree with my, and others', position ... but it is a viable position.
It's just sad that, having supported BW since Baldur's Gate, their second title I believe, dropping hundreds of Dollars on their products and being a long time user of their forums, including the old ones, that the community manager sees fit to insult your opinion and score easy points off you.
Just sayin'.
