Anybody else worried that DA2 isn't gonna be that good?
I mean they're trying to get everybody to pre-order with these special editions, DLC and add-ons.
I'm worried that once the game is released and the feedback is negative, people will stop buying so they're trying to get the sales in pre-orders. I really hope i'm wrong though
Every vibe in my bones is telling me the exact same thing.
Also know that every "big" movie that has been advertized to death ends up a flop?
I just hope they don't shoot a blank with this one..
That's kind of an overgeneralization. It also depends on your idea of a flop. I think Avatar was piece of **** but it was advertized to death and is one of the most watched movies of all time, thus making it not a flop in that sense. I mean, some movies do over saturate the market to make up for not being good (like Transformers), but I think that with DA2, most people are just looking for something to justify their own fears/concerns. For example, Mass Effect 2 had a huge tie in program, what with the preorders, the dlc, and the Dr Pepper items. The same can be said for Halo 2 and 3 (and a large number of other games). You might not have liked those games (or your might have, no assumptions) but if that's the thing you like, they were excellent and well reviewed. I don't see why DA2 has to be any different, just based on a few examples like Drive Angry (shudders). The fact is that its a business, and they have to make money to stay in business. Even the smallest indie developer still has a bottom line.
I think a lot of the concerns people on these forums have is just knee jerk reactions to what they see as changed or deviating from the path of comfort. Undoubtably some of those people will find their worst nightmares come true, in no small part of them believing it to be the case, but I think, ultimately, Bioware will deliver. Marketing is marketing, and getting the word out is just a way to sell more copies of the game. I actually think it is a viable method. I doubt it happened this way for DA2, but having a core base of dedicated fans help promote a game keeps money on the development side, instead of PR. In an ideal world anyway.
None of this is to say that I don't, at the very least, see and appreciate the opposite point of view. I do, and there is a part, albeit a small one, that fears the shadowy hand of EA's money making machine will grip Bioware. Still, they've held out so far, and maybe EA will start to return to its more idealistic beginning philosophy. They did, after all, go to bat for ME1 with that stupid sex scene 'controversy'. Then again, in the words of Alan Shore, all it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to say "It's just business".
Still, I intend to retain some part of the naivete I lost most of during life and hold out hope that the world is not a black and dismal place, and maybe, just maybe, people who make games do so because they enjoy it, and it isn't all about the money. So far, I have seen no reason to throw up my hands in despair.
This is, quite possibly, the single most sensible post I have seen on these forums.
That is all.
And I agree whole heartedly. However, in answering the Facebook situation, I never signed up with on it for the simple fact that I like my privacy. If DA2 was a multiplayer game I would understand using Facebook as a medium for gaining some ground publicly, but it's not.

"Durka, durka, durka, no liek <insert noun here>!"
It would save hours and hours of weeding through all the senseless prattle. Just my $.02.

*glares* You have got to be kidding! Ugh, facebook... The ONLY reason I have account so that I can contact my brother if we ever change phones numbers/move at the same time again. (yeah trust me when I say those were the worst 3 months of my life so far.) All I can say is someone has been using facebook too much in BioWare. Also the challenge will most likely fail, I will be surprised if we do win. So surprised in fact, IF we win; I, for the first time ever, will play as a mage in Dragon age 2. I'll die a horrible death most likely as one but hey it could be fun.

They should have made it only a 200k get. At least that would seem reasonable. <_<

Folks on these forums are so negative, I swear. Everyone has a right to express their own opinion, but I propose we start using a standardized format. Henceforth, if you have nothing constructive to add, I suggest the complaint format should be as follows:
"Durka, durka, durka, no liek <insert noun here>!"
It would save hours and hours of weeding through all the senseless prattle. Just my $.02.
I giggle'd couse 'tis true.
On topic: GJ ppl.
It does make me think if it was the PS3 users that got added in at the last frew hours, I cant see no ohter way for it to rise 250-300k.
As for this facebook idea one word.......meh....guess I do my part.

1. Click Share
2. When the window pops up click the lock icon next to share, click customize
3. When the window pops up, under the section "Make this visible to: these people..." click on the drop-down and choose "specific people"
4. Type in a name of someone who you either don't like and want to spam, someone who wouldn't care if you spam'ed them, or someone who doesn't use their facebook
5. Click save settings
6. Click share
This way you're not one of the annoying people who clutter up other peoples profiles but you still get to share the link.
Enjoy the spamming!
