Carver has a terrible weapon, among other things. Balance is not exactly the best way to judge. I did also find that being a 2 handed Hawke does far superior damage than being a Sword and Shield Hawke.

Yeah. I played a two hander and a sword and shiled warrior twice, and Hawke always fairs better than Carver. Maybe this will just happen in the beginning. If not, another reason to never use Carver. lol

When I played a mage, I never was stronger than Bethany at lvl 1, so not sure what that's about.

iirc, 2h damage was boosted after the demo (which uses a 6 month old build) was put together.

hmm, well we don't get to choose weapons in demo and everyone's DPS relies heavily on weapons they're using and not so much on stats (that's why it'll be possible to wear ser isaac's armor on a mage, at least I hope so). When You get a lvl 6 2 handed sword Your damage nearly quadruples compared to 12 stat points increasing it by dunno, 20% maybe? So You could have spent those points on dex or cunning even tho being a warrior. That's not a bad idea. I also like how the stat system has diminishing returns. If You do a shield+sword warrior and ++ everything in cunning You'll see that 80% defense against all kinds of monsters is the cap, after some kind of breakpoint it'll be plain stupid to spend cunning points in order to defend better. The same will go with dex, so far I think You can get up to 20% crit rate, dunno if it's the cap tho.

So basically: Your strength depends on gear more than in DA O. It's good because a high level fighter in da a could solo enemies with bare fists without a problem ... and that made me lol ^^

Bioware gets a +1 for good thinking, I like this new system ^^

Yes. I don't recall where precisely, but one of the Devs did say that 2H has been tweaked in the final build to make it more viable.

When you change to s&s, the sword you are given is significantly higher damage than the 2h sword that you start with.

Carver fights like a pansy because he knows he's going to die.

I noticed that avelines dps in the lvl 6 segment is like 140 if you max str, while 2 handed hawke's is only about 75.

Because of her weapon.

Probably single target DPS. Zweihanders will ideally be hitting two or three mobs per swing.

Because you shouldn't be hitting one darkspawn at a time with a 2-hander. You should be hitting at least three.

Stanley Woo said that he was unsatisfied with the 2 hander as well, and that it feels much better now. Since the demo build is quite a bit old, it's lacking a few things.

Don't forget all the awesome damage boosting talents you can get from other trees not in the demo.

S&S is a viable DPS route in DA2. There have been a few topics on it, and most agree that given all the dps sustainables available to S&S coupled with their slightly higher single target DPS (base damage), survivability with shield/stuns with all the active attack spells, they are a viable, good build for DPS (that's probably why they took out dual wield warrior, cause you can now DPS with S&S).

Kids, all they care about these days is "faster, cooler, bloodier" etc, etc, etc
