Papa Cousland was so convinced that you were his child that he believed that you could carry on the Cousland name!  Sadly, that's the only reason why I couldn't play HN with a darker skintone.

lol...I know.....poor Papa Cousland. In my family my mom is as light as Mama Cousland so that felt right but my dad has a darker skin tone. It didn't take me out of the RPing part of it though, but I know DA2 will be more accurate, even if it's only skin tone.

It's funny how different people have different things that immerse them into RP. For me it's the character I make.

I'm as pale as porcelain, I wish I had a slight tan, if only so I didn't "glow" in pictures.

It's kind of the same for me. On my Dalish, I could only play with a tan skintone or darker, seeing as she spent most of her life outdoors in the sun.

For those interested I made custom darker skinned/haired Cousland family members that you can download through the link in my sig. Instructions are there to put them in the game too.

Alas, I only have console. I don't have a fast enough processor speed to run DA on PC.

The dark hair isn't unusual to me. I have brown hair, while my (faternal) twin brother is a ginger. My dad had black hair and my mom was originally blond before it grew darker with age.

Is the skin color the only thing that changes? What about facial structure such as cheek bones, lip size, and even eye colors?

I guess the real question is, how detailed is this going to be?

the way i understand it, your familys appearance will primarily be based on the preset you choose, that applies to facial Structure and Skin Color. There were one or two more things that were variable afterwards, but i don't really remember. There was a dev-post about that, but nothing recent.

Their skin colour will always match Hawke's. Their hair will always be black. Besides that, all their other features (including hairstyle) will be different depending on which of the 10 or so preset templates you select before beginning your Hawke's customisation.

For Hawke, you can. Though you start with the preset, and move from that

Urgh, I wish we could choose whether our family had long or short hair. I don't want to big an ugly preset, just so Bethany's hair is long.

Don't get me wrong. Some women look amazing with short hair--like Cassandra for example. I just prefer Bethany with the longer hair.

Given my personal predilictions, even I wouldn't consider my judgment of what a hot woman looks like to be a universal truth.  So, all's good.

Wait... it was my understanding that you could chose Hawke, with our without the bloodsmear, but that you can't change anything else.  Altering her/him requires using a preset from the CC, which immediately changes Bethany and Carver.  Am I mistaken?

Skin color and facial structure change. Your siblings' hair will always be black. I don't know if eye color changes.

While me and my brothers all have black hair, I've met a family with three boys, the oldest had dark brown hair, the second had blonde and the youngest had red.

sorry, i'm not sure about that. The last dev-post i read about that was way back in late december/early january. Everything was still open back then. But if you want to keep the default appearance of the Hawke Family intact, you are pretty much stuck with Hawkes default appearance. The presets are the major factor deciding their appearance, but not the only one. So if you change Hawkes Hairstyle, it is possible that your Siblings will get a new one as well.

See, I thought Isabela was the hottest companion.  She's sexy AND cool.  Bethany hit me as kind of -blah- during the demo, while Isabela had a personality as well as other .......  assets.
