Male Hawke's VO was too pompous.

And Femhawke's...
Hers just made me want to smother her with a pillow.
That's on fire.

So the Warden wins.

EDIT: Wow, massive thread necro

My Warden had the voice of whichever preset I chose, I couldn't make him sound like whatever I want.

Anyway, Male Hawke, I say. Fem Hawke has a sweet voice, sounds a little too sweet though IMO. Needs more powahhh! (like Fem Shep)

Doidn't really care for MaleHawke, but Femhawke's voice made me want to slam her repeatedly against a wall, push her on to the ground and stamp on her face.

So Warden it is.

The Warden. If you can't get a good voice actor, then don't get a voice actor at all. edit: battle cries and move-to cries is all you need.

Incidentally it's what they should have done with Male Shepard, goddamn Mark Meer crap. Thank god for Jennifer Hale.

Both Hawkes win, jointly. Seriously, they're both fantastic.

The wardens voice during combat was awesome, loved all the comments they made.

Hawkes was flat, boring and monotone, boooo!

Warden ''It's a massacre, and no one gets out alive!'' or Isn't there something better we could be doing? Killing things, perhaps? (i love those :D) and Garrett Hawke of course

All in all?

Snarky Male Hawke is my favorite. Still has me in stitches every time.

Since the warden only communicates telepathically it seems he/she really has no voice.

And that just so happens to be the best voice.

Sorry folks but that is all I ever saw.
I got to stare at the back of an unemotive store prop that never says anything and communicates telepathically.

Male Hawke, hands down. All tones, too. Though I do get a kick out of female Hawke's "aggressive" voice, sounds like a petulant teenager.

I prefer the Warden, at least I had a choice of voices to pick from or since I play on the PC I could turn the combat/selection voices off and just use my imagination instead of being stuck listening to someone who sounded nothing like the character I was trying to roleplay and enjoy.

It would be nice if Bioware plans more of these antics if they gave a toggle for the main character voice acting. Voiced protagonist fans can't complain about that if they get what they want, and I don't have to listen to some actor whose personality controls much of how the main character comes across. It would be nice too if the main character had more dialogue options and accurate paraphrasing too, but I'd be happy enough with just an audio toggle and go from there.

I prefer FemHawke's, really. Her snark is awesome. But. I don't think she does strong emotion very well - when she threatens people or when she's frightened or grieving she just sounds like she is trying way too hard without getting it right.

In my opinion.

To play computer games you need some imagination. Give up on playing games - try movies.

Yeah...if I want something to be "cinematic" I watch a movie. If I want to be told a story while using my imagination but not make any decisions I read a book. In games, especially roleplaying games, I like creative interaction and decision making. Hawke feels far more like a store prop to me, it's Bioware's character. I'm not opposed to playing a set character, but it's a drastic change from the previous game in the series which had offered far more creative freedoms for the player. DA 2 offers me nothing in return for creative freedoms taken away from DA:O for character creation and class building. It's a far lesser experience to me. DA 2 would of made a better book or movie than video game.

I really didn't think any of them were that great. FemHawke was amusing at times but also nails on the chalkboard at others. MaleHawke's voice actor was so bad that I had to start over and play a female Hawke to get away from it. The Warden's choices were mostly serviceable but nothing to remember.

Also, to all of you complaining that the Warden communicates telepathically, wow, really? Have you never role played in first person before? You're not supposed to see a response from your character because it's your voice speaking the lines, in your imagination. You then get to see the important part, the response you get from what you say.

Oh, I'm surprised to find people who like malehawke voice :o

Well, everyone has their own tastes ^_^ I prefer femhawke by far. On the other hand, it's difficult for me to identify a good acting-voice, since english is not my language.

Lady Hawke sounds like a posh snot. Man Hawke was pretty good, but sometimes lacked emotion.

I liked my Warden's voice. He spoke of ladders. Good times.
