By this I mean in what order should the dlc be played. I know Lil's and the Darkspawn dlc don't benefit the story of Origins in any way, but what order should I play the rest of the content after completing Origins?

Awakening's, Golems n Witch Hunt. Golems probaby doesn't need to be in there but a lot of people play it. But that's the order basically.

do Leliana's Song and Darksppawn Chronicles first for bonus items
then play Origins after that do Warden's Keep go do Mage quest then do Shale DLC part 1 then go to Denerim for sidequests then Return to Ostagar then play the main quest anyway you like after finishing that Awakening then Golem of Amgarrak then Witch Hunt

Don't do this if you have not finished DAO at least once.

Okay, I am a bit confused here... maybe I'm not all that much of a gamer, but I love the Dragon Age Origins, DA DLC, and have played through the demo of DA2 and I love them. What I am looking for is the best order in which to do the Origins missions as well as the DLC for the flow of the story.

I have done:

Lilianna's Song, (have to repeat cause I missed some of the battle dress)
Played through Lothering on Origins
(my last game I tried Darkspawn Chronicles and sucked, so will have to try that one again)

In my previous games, in Origins, I did the following:

Origins through Lothering,
Warden's Keep,
Mage Circle,
Got Shale
Then I didn't really see any benefit to the last three with the dwarves, elves or Redcliffe. I hadn't done return to Ostagar yet, but I did do the Urn quest. So what is the best order to do stuff in - from the story point of view?

I know Awaking, Golems and then witch hunt follow after that, and then DA2 (which I have sitting on my dining room table, LOL)

Nice to find this thread. Looking for the correct order also. I did a couple of quick playthroughs of DA:O when it first released, and haven't touched it since. Now I got the UE and looking for the best order to do things. I'm currently just entering Lothering. Guess It'll be better if I play Lilliana's song and Darkspawn chronicles now. Then finish with Lothering and do Stone Prisoner, Wardens Keep and so....... would like to know what gives me a nice continous flow. (Yes I am getting DA2)

Chronicles spoils the final DAO mission. Do Leliana's, DAO, Chronicles, DAA, Golems, Witch Hunt, DA2. Import them in that order, if they are importable.

Aww well, already did Chronicles.... but at least I have it for the next game (trying to get all the achievements so will be playing more than once. Is there any particular order that is best for the DAO missions? Like mage tower, dwarves, elves and such? I noticed on one of my games I had to scrap because I tried fighting the werewolves to kill witherfang and got my butt kicked and was at high level (don't remember now what my stats were) but it kept dropping me into the fight on reloading so I scrapped the game.

For all the installments the order is this:

- Origins (The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar are played during Origins)
- Awakenings
- Golems
- Witch Hunt

Leliana's Song is a prequel, so chronologically it comes first, but there are some story spoilers for Origins (not major ones though) so it's recommended you play Origins before you do it
Darkspawn Chronicles is an alternate ending to Origins, with minor spoilers, so it's recommended you complete Origins before playing this too.

As for the mission order within Origins:

The beginning and end of the game are quite linear. It's only the middle "exploring" section that gives you freedom of choice. And some areas are harder to do than others.
Recommended you start off with Redcliffe and Mage's Tower (metagaming, Mage's Tower is best to start, but Redcliffe makes more sense, story-wise) and leave Orzammar until last. The DLC stuff is on the easy side, so you might want to do that sooner rather than later - especially the Stone Prisoner. In fact, many people do that one before Redcliffe and the Tower.

Also, you get a storage chest upon completion of Warden's Keep.

What I mean is, I literally HATE going to the mage tower first (after Lothering and Warden's Keep for the bottomless chest). On my other game that I spoke of before, having to scrap cause I kept getting dropped into the werewolf battle, I went to the mage tower for Wynne first, and then went to Redcliffe so I didn't have to kill the kid and his mom, and then to the Elf realm. I want to know what the best way to do the four main quests (with the dlc included) would be. I was some high level (don't remember what) when I went to the elf realm and tried to kill witherfang and got my butt kicked. So yeah, not sure I want to do that again, lol. By the way, I am playing a mage this time - last time was a human rogue.

I've you've already done Redcliffe and the Mage Tower, then you should be at a reasonable level to do the Elf quest. Maybe you could do all the DLC's and some Denerim sidequests to build up your xp, but I don't think you should be too underpowered to handle Witherfang. Perhaps it was more to do with your build - rogues can be tricky to do right. Mages are much more straight forward, and, I think, more powerful, so you're onto a winner being one this time round.

Leliana's and Chronicles give you items in your Origins and Awakening campaigns if you finish them.

There isn't a correct order to do the origins quest otherwise you would have been playing a strictly linear game where choices don't really matter. In fact i like doing the Brecillian Forest first.

I know there isn't a correct order but, for some of us, especially those who have the Ultimate Edition of DAO, there's so much that is available immediately after finishing the origins stories, it can feel a bit overwhelming in choosing what to do next. After a really dumb decision on my part, I deleted my character that was about 30% into the main story so I've started over. I felt like I was missing some things anyway and hadn't paid much attention to the DLC. But after reading up on the wiki for descriptions, I think this order (for myself) works well:

Origin Story
Ostagar/Korcari Wilds
Lothering
Circle Tower
Warden's Keep DLC - (I've completed up to here so far)
Stone Prisoner DLC
Redcliffe Village/Castle
Brecilian Forest
Haven/Urn of Sacred Ashes Quest
Denerim
Orzammar
Leliana's Song DLC
Landsmeet/Battle of Denerim (Finish Game)
Return to Ostagar DLC
Witch Hunt DLC
Darkspawn Chronicles DLC
Golems of Amgarrak DLC
Awakening EP

There are a couple of chronological issues there. Which you wouldn't realise having purchased the UE Image IPB

The correct chronological order is:

Leliana's Song
Vanilla Origins in any order you want, with the Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar completed before the end of Origins.
Awakening
Golems of Amgarrak
Witch Hunt

This is determined through codex entries/Bioware saying things like "Witch Hunt is the last adventure for the Warden" As you can see, there is still quite a lot of choice in the order of how you do things in Origins.

Order I do it in is pretty much order of release. Obviously Origins story first and Ostagar. I then usually do Stone Prisoner to get the awesome Shale, then Circle Tower, Soldiers Peak, Return to Ostagar, Forest, Orzammar, Redcliffe then the finale. I then do Awakening, Darkspawn, Leliana, Golems and Witch Hunt.
