I really liked the idea of helping out the Werewolves, even after all the crap they put my party through. BUT when I picked them, they just stood around during the battle and did not assist me at all. Not sure if this is supposed to happen or not. How can I expect to take on two Shales, four Sylvan Trees and Zatherian? I expected to at least have all the Werewolves on my side to ASSIST me!
So... I reloaded and picked the Elves. I guess that's what I went there for in the first place, to have them honor the old treaties.

I, personally, slaughtered the werewolves my first time - didn't free them or anything. To me, as a Dalish, that made sense because they were killing my people. Even though they had their own reasons for that, I still wanted my own revenge.
My current play through, as a human wizard (AM/BM) who is more opportunistic & leans towards a darker side, I'm going to take the "why don't you just kill all the elves" approach & have werewolves in my army.

Quite simple really. If you don't have these spells... well why not? They make life a lot easier.

Zathrian binds them when the combat starts, and even if you attack him the Elves will honor their treaty, he sees the light in the end and lifts the curse...
He's actually the only sort-of-bad-guy in that entire situation but redeems himself...

The werewolves are turned back into humans, the Lady gets her wish to die and the elves are free of the attacks all at the expense of one man's life who lived far too long anyway, and willingly gives up his life to end the curse.

Or 1-2, to be more exact.
Well, at least in this quest there's:
1. Take the WitherFang Heart to side with elves (if you give it to Zathrian, you get 2h Griffon Axe - Grey Warden only)
1.A. Kill Zathrian anyway - it's not like he doesn't deserve it - and bring a change in the elven leadership (not to mention his sweet staff)
2. Force Zathrian to end the curse (seems like pretty much no extra reward.. well there's that totally lame shield) - probably the most "good" solution
3. "Let's kill all the elves instead" (Zathrian's loot and a few other elven trinkets + you get a werewolf army)
Seems more like 3-4 different solutions, at least to this problem.

Yeah, well, only that FF seems to last very shortly on bosses on Nightmare (and they resist it quite often too). Crushing Prison is even worse (duration and resisting).
Paralysis Explosion helped, but the area was so tight (and mob models so large!) I usually ended up paralysing also my own men. Mind Blast? Common, maybe usefull to catch a breath but otherwise the duration is almost useless.
Sleep I don't have yet - unfortunately.
Probably was my hardest fight so far.
Which is weird, because fighing Zathrian "only" is so much more difficult then buthering the whole Dalish settlement (including Zathrian) . Can't even compare the difficulty of these two battles.
