UPDATE: NOW WITH INVENTORY MOD: mod.gib.me/dragonage2/demo/inventory.7z

The guy who runs the www.gib.me mod database made the first mod for the DA2 demo. I've tried it myself and vouch for its freedom of viruses:

Extract this to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2 Demo\\

It enables the appearance customization and other junk in the character
generation screen. Note: to customize appearance, slide the preset
slider over a few times (you can't customize the default faces for some
reason).

another note, it also enables the difficulty selection after you complete character generation, nightmare demo anyone?

Bear in mind, of course, that Nightmare was not balanced at the time of this build. The fact that some of you folks are taking a difficulty option that was unlocked via fan mods as 'this is how it'll be in the final game', well, I'd be careful about doing so.

Of course, the fact that assumptions are already being made suggests that my warnings will likely fall on deaf ears for some, but hey.

As John pointed out earlier, the reason these options were left out of the demo is because they weren't optimized yet. So play with the settings at your own risk-- but don't automatically assume that everything will be as you're seeing it in the final game.

Otherwise, have fun.

This probably got asked already BUT...

How's the Nightmare difficulty? Is it more difficult than DA:O or about the same?

Allow me to remind people quickly that anything unlocked by mods in the demo hasn't gone through final QA, bugfixing, polish, or balancing, and is likely not representative of final game content. Especially Nightmare balancing. This goes double for crashes if you're using mods.
