That's what they wanted though. If you can't be bothered learning the subtleties of the mechanics will fail.
Tactics are meant for Hard and lower; where you spend 90% of your time as Hawke and let tactics do the rest (which works just fine, even better than in Origins even), there aren't enough slots to properly set up enough conditions.
You can pull of AoE in Nightmare, but it requires careful positioning and timing.
Nightmare felt very Baldur's Gate like, tell everyone what to do every turn or get slaughtered. Good stuff

might have to save as.

Thanks for link :) but It wont let me get that far. I click on it, it says invalid, then the DA updater rears its head lol

Argh im torturing myself by looking at the pretty custom Hawkes!

It sounds like you have 7z files associated with the da updater.

Right click the link above, and save as. Does that work ?

Whew.

Just beat the demo on nightmare.
Casting hail of arrows on your party is bad.

It was good getting used to friendly fire again, and it would've been easier with better mage spells.
I'm not thrilled that a fireball kills your party but barely makes enemy health bars move.
Also if all battles have a large health bar bad guy like in the chantry, battles are going to get tedious awfully quickly.

It felt like a full minute that my mage, avaline and Isabella were whacking on the one guy after we had taken down everyone else. (Carver put all his points in strength and died quickly and Varric sacrificed himself to take down 3 raiders with a hail of arrows)

So far the only issue with nightmare is the insane amount of health the bad guys have.

I would love to try out different spells  but sadly they are locked for the demo.
I enjoyed the character creater, I made a bunch of cool looking male Hawkes.

Alodar :)

I just want to say that I don't think these presets are all in the final version, I remember watching the German Gamestar show and the guy demoed the CC and there were some similar and some different presets, thought I would just say that.
Also here is my Hawkes:

Guess i will post it here again. How the hell can you keep up with the combat speed on nightmare?

Ok thx to some mod now its not only possible to change your appearence
and choose the background story from Origins but also play the demo on
every difficulty.

Here is my experience so far.

First of
all yes it is more tactical but also its almost impossible to handle
the tactical aspect because everything is moving so damn fast. You
basicly need to pause 2 times every second or you cant keep up with the
action that is going on. Not only you need to time your AOE attacks
infront because everything is running so fast  but you also need to try
to keep your other party members away which is almost impossible.

Also
the AI is so dumb that everytime your skill is ready to go they use it.
This means that you need to check every second if one of the skills is
rdy and then control this memeber or they will use it. And it doesnt
matter if your members are in the way or not they will use it and so
kill almost your whole meele partymember. Yes this is on default and
maybe you can change it in their tactics commands but why the hell is
the AI so dumb on default tactics?

Personally for me its clear
that i just cant play it on nightmare and many people also wpoont be
able to because the combat is so damn fast. Thats one of the reasons why
the cobat in Origins was slow paced. ´So people actually could keep up
with their actions.

1st thing - Disable all tactics. As Peter Thomas stated - to get through nightmare you need to optimally control the whole party. Yes that means lots of pausing and controling every party member. Just like Baldur's Gate. Once you get the hang of it it's not so very hard anymore.
AoE is still very very usefull but you need to use them at the right times and places. With the affected targets geting highlited it's not so hard to put a fireball on the edge so that it them but not you. Or in front of charging enemies; I'm pretty sure you can do better than the ai, hehe.
Also it pays off to save the skills a bit, not just spam them when they are ready. You can do that after most stuff is dead.

Yes of course its great also with friendly fire but the action is so damn fast that you really cant plan everything,. In Origins you had time. It needed some time to cast a spell, it needed some time to use a special ability etc. Here its skill, skill skill skill skill skilll and so on.

I guess i need to try it more later but so far its way too fast for m and thats what I had feared with this actionoriented combat.

And yes i need to actually disable the tactic tree because its stupid otherwise^^

I honestly love the new speed cause I found Origins combat to be boring and slow. (play a 2handed warrior in Origins without Haste, I dare you)
If the pace gets too much: pause :) In Baldur's Gate you had to pause at least every 6 secs (one turn) to tell people what to do.
There's also no need to torture yourself on Nightmare if old-style RPG isn't fun for you :P Just play Hard if you want  an action game

Bear in mind, of course, that Nightmare was not balanced at the time of this build. The fact that some of you folks are taking a difficulty option that was unlocked via fan mods as 'this is how it'll be in the final game', well, I'd be careful about doing so.

Of course, the fact that assumptions are already being made suggests that my warnings will likely fall on deaf ears for some, but hey.

Ok, if you already tried putting the contents of the file in the

My documents/bioware/da2demo folder

And if that didn't work, try this.

Go to your main installation folder. (mine is C:\\programfiles\\da2demo and put the file there instead and try that.

Merge folders when it asks for it.
