You have to unzip the .7z downloads. Should give you .gfx files. I used 7-zip and told the program to extract into my Dragon Age 2 Demo folder.Jzadek72 wrote...
I'm going to sound like a complete moron here, but when it says "extract" do I just move it into said folder, or do I have to decompress it or somesuch?
Sorry, I know, I'm completely technologically retarded.

Actually, the file is compressed so you'll have to extract (decompress) it into the proper folder. I recommend grabbing 7zip, if you haven't got it, and do it with that. It's really easy. Just open the file, clcik on the folder 'packages' and choose 'extract to' and target the demo folder.

Through, I'm pretty sure this isn't the final CC cause lots of hairs (men, mostly) are bugged weirdly. There is also some kind of 'flashy' thing when you change anything on the character (like a very short spark of light on all the toon) and also the eyebrows are all black until you go into the game: suddenly they take the right color, but you can't see it in the CC (unless you check the 'flashy' thing: the flash will reveal the true color of the eyebrows).
But! Even if it isn't the last CC made for DA2, I must admit I LOVE the person that posted that ^^ made me have a lot of fun. Since I don't know how to post screenshot on this forum, through, I will just tell a sweet thank you

Ehm, back onto the crashes I had mentioned on the previous page.. I just tested something. If I don't alter the presets, the game launches just fine. If I alter the preset, however, the game crashes. That means something in the CC is faulty. At least for me it is, then. Now I need to try and find it so I can avoid it.
I've been trying to find the exact source myself and I think it might be certain hairstyles.
As an altered face + Ander's ponytail hairstyle = crash. Without? no crash at all.
Perhaps all the slides have crashable options. Would be nice to have a comprehensive list. <_<

Has anyone else looked at save imports and noticed that they are completely wrong? I hope thats just a problem with the demo/mod....
It was locked for a reason, remember that. Unstable, unfinished, etc.

It's great getting to mess with the character creator but I must admit... I'm dissappointed. All those new pretty sets of long hair for ladies and they give us short haired girls two new short options... and they're both still ugly. :/ I wanted to be able to use fem hawke's default hair at least...
I think Cassandra's pixie cut is alright (it's available in the CC). Can't see why they diabled the default Hawkes' haircuts though. The male's beard, sure, probably was tailored to fit the default Hawke's face and wouldn't stick with the presets jaw lines, but the hairs ?

I'll likely use the pixie cut. But it's disappointing to not have default Hawke's available. :/ I was excited when I first saw her hair. "Finally! Good looking short hair!"
I don't want to just use the default either. I like the way she looks, but she just looks too harsh in her makeup and such for how I want to play.

Remember that this is the unfished CC that doesn't have all the options. We might get FemHawke's hair in the final version! *optimism*

Aaand just to make sure it's said often enough, this unoficial mod cracked an unfinished version of character creation. It doesn't necessarily represent the full options and effects (especially those affecting the family) that are present in the main game. Thats why all those features were locked in the first place, not just because we're big meanies.

I doubt it will be available though, since default Shepard's baldishness wasn't available in the CC. And I'm a console player so I'll have to deal with what I get.
I'll hold on to a little optomism, but dang it Bioware... :[

I did follow the instructions, I extracted the "packages" folder into my "Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2 Demo" folder and nothing worked, so I exctracted it to the Dragon Age 2 folder within my Program Files just to be safe and still did not work.

Wrong. In most cases, modifications want to be installed to the installed location of the program.
Make sure the files:
chargen.gfx
chargen_stage2.gfx
inventory.gfx
mainmenu.gfx
are in the "\\Dragon Age 2 Demo\\packages\\core\\override" folder where the game is installed to.
