(Was playing it on this TV so I could listen to the video released on the same day as the demo.)
Had to move downstairs to my basement just to be able to read. I'd play the regular game on my HDTV though, so I'm not horribly bothered. Until I get to my 6th playthrough, when I no longer care too much about looks, and just want to try builds/new stories/etc, then I will care that I can't read on the TV in my room.

Actually, with the "shape" of my living room I have to play at 2,50 / 3 meters away from the screen. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't read anything even on HD. I played Resident Evil 5 coop with a friend on a 36'' HDTV from that distance, and was unable to read the subtitiles. Now, DA2 subtities are even smaller, and for no reason at all. That's the problem.
The fact is, ME2 had this problem in the menus, in the choices, codex and everywhere it needed reading, but you could understand what was going on somehow (I lost my eyesight on that damn game) because it was dubbed in other languages. DA2 isn't, so I have to rely entirely on subtitles. And it's impossible to understand anything.
And, I repeat myself, for no reason at all.

I had to save up for 2 months to buy my 360, and another few months to get my HDTV. My monthly budget allows me to buy about 2 games a month if I don't save money.
Thats not being tight. Thats called budgeting.

I love how you just assume everyone has the same financial situation as you. Not closed-minded at all.

I have the same problem in my living room. <_< We just have a crappy 32" tv and I have to sit on the floor in front of it to play any games. I'd have to get a 42" - 50" to be able to play any games from the comfort of my sofa, which isn't cheap. Damn recession...

TV's are a luxury, I've lived without one for at least 3 years, yeah I know it's hard to imagine a life without television, but I figured I got the internet to pollute my brain now, no need for television to add to the effect.Carlthestrange wrote...

Unfortunately it seems the gamer companies are trying to force their market into purchasing HDTV's. Sorry folks, but it seems we are having progress forced upon us. Despite the fact the markets are in a bad way and prices are through the roof.
Games are a luxury. Just saying....
So are TV's,in a way.

Sent Chris Priestly a message about it, asking if the text size in the demo is the same as in the retail product, and he said yes. When asked if they could fix this, he replied 'A patch would be possible if deemed necessary from fan feedback.'.
I pointed him to a couple threads on the tech support forum and asked if a patch would even be possible (as it wasn't possible in ME2, according to Bioware). No response to that yet.

Oh man, not again.
This will ends up like Mass Effect 2, all complaining and no patch

I'm fine with mine now, since luckly the majority of the games that I like are optimized for SDTV with 4:3 and readable text.
But when it comes to EA games it's always a real pain for SDTV users. I'm not going to change a tv just for Dragon Age 2 or Dead Space 2..
It's EA that lose customers.

1) Xbox 360 DOES support SDTV in the System settings
2) Tiny text does not add ANYTHING to the game, design or artistic-wise
3) Bigger text does not harm anyone, and it's something done in maybe 20 minutes during development.
**
The first two points are my main gripe with the text size. I really hope it's possible to have a patch to adjust text size.

I understand, but not all people can afford an HDTV or are interested in changing the TV.
I can afford it,but why?
Why someone should throw away a good working sdtv?(let be honest/ a console gamer didnt care that much about graphics anyway)
And a lot of other games work perfectly fine with it.

Edit: If you can afford one, but don't want to buy one then why are you complaining? You have the option to make the game look like it's intended but for some reason need to complain that it doesn't look right on your SDTV.

Sure, just drop 800 dollars in my pocket and I'll get one for me.
Yes, 800 dollars is the price for a hdtv where I live.

I work at what most consider one of the best paying jobs in town and I still have to watch what I spend, took me 5 months of saving to get a decent HD.
I feel for ya TC, I went through the same thing. Good luck, bud.

Fortunately I have no problem with my 29 SDTV. My Xbox says it's running in 480p, at least.
My problem is that my TV always cut the corners of the image. It sucks, but I will buy an HDTV in the next year.
