Edit: If you can afford one, but don't want to buy one then why are you complaining?

Because the majority of other console games didnt have that problem? Why the text is so small anyway?

I just got a HDTV because I'm tired of not being able to read my games. Cost over $300 but it was worth spending two paychecks on it. (lol part-time) I got a Vizio, they're cheaper compared to the other brands.

I wish other companies would imitate 'Vanquish' (another game) and make a SDTV mode for their games.

So long story short; players with SDTv should stay away from Dragon Age 2…?

Ack, my eyes are bleeding! Why can't BW put an option in to choose text size? My eye site has always been bad, but DA LITERALLY hurts my eyes to read!

This is like folks purchasing K-Cup coffee without having the correct coffee machine and then complaining to the K-Cup folks that their product doesn't work in their 1994 Mr. Coffee.

BioWare, I love you and all. But this the tiny text is terrible (and the colours make it even harder to read). This is seriously starting to ruffle my feathers.
And don't get me started on the dialog wheel! I can't even tell what my character is going to say!

I miss my voiceless Warden with more than three things to say that I can actually READ.

DA:O > DA2

Yeah, I love the game so far, except for the impossible to read text. I can't see what move I'm getting, I can barely read the quests, and I can also barely read the dialogue wheel. BW, I love you guys!! Help us!! Not being able to read really kills the immersion.

A couple of years ago, HDTV was new, so you had to support the SDTV crowd because not everyone had the opportunity to get an HDTV. But now, years later, you're really just backwards if you haven't moved with the time and upgraded your television.

Supporting SDTV would mean lowering the quality of everyone else's experience to enable the SDTV users to continue dragging their feet.

I don't see how having slightly larger/clearer text would  lower the quality for everyone else, in fact, I think you may be a troll....or an idiot.

yeah on my 47" HD the font is barely readable 15 feet away. such a shame they didn't learn from the past games. (ME:2)

I got a 42" tv. I never played DA:O, so I like to read tips on the loading screens. However, those texts are smaller than the letters I have to read at the optometrist! I have to be in 3 ft of the tv to actually read it... That is just ridiculous. Other texts I can read, but my eyes get tired very fast if I read everything (cause the fonts are still quite small); and I sit only 6 ft away from the tv. An option for bigger text is a must!

Here in the real world for those who have other expenses to consider, splashing out for a new TV isn't exactly top of the list when you have to consider bills that must be paid first and foremost and then getting food.
People can't be expected to go hungry and to get threatening letters if a bill isn't paid exactly on time just because they wanted a new TV.

I've had my SDTV since 2003 and it's still working well, but it's annoying that tiny text is being used in games to force people to splash out money they can't afford on an HDTV, where I live an HDTV is well over £1000 and that's for a small 22 inch one.
To save up that kind of money isn't possible since anything could happen at any time that requires you to use any money you've saved up.

Unless EA intends on giving people around the world free HDTV's that are a good size for playing games with tiny text then a patch for both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 in order to fix the tiny text issue is badly needed.
No one should have to suffer severe headaches and nosebleeds from trying to read the text in a game.

So unless I'm going to be receiving a free 42 inch HDTV any time soon then please, please can we have a patch for ME2 and DA2 to fix the tiny text? Please?
Buying a new TV just isn't a viable nor possible option for many who are on a tight budget that has other concerns beyond a new TV.

Nowhere as near as bad as Street Fighter 4.

Reading the movelist and combos on SDTV was completely and utterly impossible, as it wasnt text, it was little images what what to do with the thumbsticks.

Do you have a spare computer monitor lying about? That's what I use, you'll need a gender plug, can be found in pretty much any electronics store, eg Curry's (you live in Uk right) or PC world and it isn't expensive.

You'll get at least 1280x1204 resolution and your games will look BEAUTIFUL. I've never turned back.

I love the game but the text is absolutely unreadable. I want to play the game but I'm getting headaches and my eyes are literally hurting from straining to read horribly small words. WHY is there no option to increase font size?! This sucks. I pre-ordered the game and everything and I'm almost to the point of selling it because the text (which is crucial to the gameplay) is so tiny.

I just created an account and searched for this. I just bought DA2 about 2 hours ago, put it in my Xbox and plaid it until I leveled up during the first "battle" and shut it off. I can't read a single thing, and my eye sight is bad so I'm pretty good at guessing what things are.

since I'm in the "dark ages" of TV this game just pisses me off. What just went through my mind is that I just paid $60 for a book that's only printed in Russian, and now I have go out and spend more money on a translator.
If I would have known it was going to be like this I would have waited until there was ultimate addition with all the DLC.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bioware games, and the DA universe especially. I own the special edition of the first game and signature edition of the second, as well as the special edition guides for both. But heres the thing, I can't play this game when I can't read it. I know thats what everyone in this thread is saying, but it is just too aweful. The argument that we can just go buy a new tv is not a valid one, especially with many peoples financial situations. The counter argument of that we can afford the games so we can afford the tv is also a poor one. Alot of people rent the games, should they be denied the fun of a game because they cant see it? Also, I  know in my situation, I just graduated from college, with a degree in education. I don't plan on earning alot of money in my life to begin with, and I really cant now with only a part time job, but I had saved about sixty bucks of my grad money that I didnt use on food, and didnt eat some days to afford the game, a game that I can't play now. So please, don't tell us that sixty bucks some people have to scrimp and save for, is the same as several hundred dollars.

Can you clarify what a gender plug is? Is that related to a vga cable or something different.

I have a flat screen monitor lying around as it happens, so I may try this. It's smaller than my TV though - is that going to be a pointless excercise?

But again - I can only agree with the appalling text size. I had no trouble with DA:O, and I've been so happy with DA2 that it's almost a releif that the only let down is the text size. But it is a BIG let down and a massive oversight for a game so very text heavy. Why there can't be an option to change the text size, regardless of this whole HDTV/SDTV argument. What are the visually impaired going to do?

I mean, seriously, it's bad form - for such a text-heavy game there really needs to be the ability to read the text no matter what your situation. EA or Bioware would be foolish to design games purely for those who keep up with the latest technology; the number of people who can afford to buy large HDTV's does not outweigh those who play consoles on anything they can get their hands on. I mean, how many games are designed to be played by those only with XBox live? Sure, there are many options for those who do link their Xbox's up to the internet, but still they know that not everyone does this and so they release Ultimate editions with all the DA available.

So, Bioware/EA - think a little and put text size options on your games least someone sue you under the disability and equality act for ignoring the visually impaired.

If Bioware can get the text-size option on the re-release I'll be very happy and spout my endless praise of your game and we'll never mention this oversight again.
