lso, I would hardly call him a romance option if he has no intention of taking the relationship into marriage.  Flirting does not a romance make.

Maybe he can take you out for candlelight picnics.  That'd be a romance.

No that's romantic, not romance.  Romance alludes to more than one date.

And the next night he takes you on a trip to the zoo.  Don't get greedy.

Is there a zoo in Thedas?  I wasn't aware.  Was that where Seb was fighting the giant spider.

Zoo Keeper:  Lady Hawke, I have this problem with our spiders.  They are out of control.

Lady Hawke:  Well a few little spiders won't bother us.

Zoo Keeper:  Well, they're not exactly little.

(Hawke looks into the cage) Lady Hawke:  Seb, you can take this one.

I'm reading the little blurb in the guide, which mentions him in the same breath as Isabela, and it seems to allude to a full romance, just a 'chaste' one. So, talks and what not, sans sexytime. You can flirt with everyone, supposedly. Why mention him in that section of the guide if he were just another Aveline?
I dunno, I'll try not to hold my breath. It's entirely possible that it is just a few flirt lines, but I'd like to remain optimistic. Posted Image

Oh, a relationship doesn't have to go to marriage, but when I hear "romance" I expect more than just a little flirting.

I'm pretty sure if it's included among the 'romances' there'll be more to it than a little flirting. I think the 'chaste' side will be intriguing. He's taken vows sure, but he might also believe that sex belongs within marriage.

Whatever it is - I look forward to finding out.

When I was reading the Odyssey for class I kept picturing Sebastian as Telemachus. I wonder how appropriate this comparison is.

I think it would be perfect if Seb was the "chaste" romance for Lady Hawke's and Aveline was the "chaste" romance for ManHawke.

I'm really thrilled to see how Bioware handled this, as I've always found the sexytime aspect of the relationship a bit....creepy (not in real life, but in game). Hopefully it's not entirely chaste (kissy faces aren't breaking any vows, AFAIK) but I'm intrigued either way.

Sooo, wait. This means that there will be a full on romance just no 'doing the do' scene? I mean will there even be a kiss? Like, he'll have all the cut scenes, 'gifts' (if there will be like) like Alistairs rose/Zev's earring/etc etc, an effect on the ending and all that good stuff? I can live without the scene to be honest but the other things are the most important imo.

I can live without the scene (although it seems like an egregious waste of a hottie), but if the romance is to remain chaste for eternity, it seems . . . . a little hollow. Not to mention unpractical if he's going to inherit a throne.

Seriously, I'll settle for an epilogue screen where it says we got married ala Alistair. Just . . . kissing, please!!!!!

'Princes aren't meant for chastity'
Sebastian's words, not mine :D

Personally, I'll be happy if he has any kind of flirt lines. Three in game romances is just too much to wish for (or handle ).

Wait, a romance without sex is "hollow?" Personally, I think it's a very interesting and intriguing change. Not only that, but its culmination has the chance to be one of the more interesting romances in a BW game, imo. I love that it's chaste. Then again, I'm still excited that I'll have someone to romance.

Awww, don't like Anders or Fenris?

I'll admit I'm intrigued. I just wish it was otherwise. Oh well, can't have everything.

Actually, I'm going to piggyback and agree. in ME2 it seemed appropriate because it seemed more dramatically plausible: we're about to die, we need to screw.

In Dragon Age, it's not plot-related, it's tied to whenever you get to that point in the relationship, so it's just a scene. I super appreciate the effort that goes into the "sex" scenes, but all they really do is make me blush and laugh. I'm not like "oooh yeaaah alistair take it offfff". They're silly. I suppose because they're video game characters, but Mass Effect's seems more appropriate for some reason. It wasn't more romantic -- it was more passionate, I think.

Anyway. My original point was: the sex scene is not my goal with the romance. It's not something I look forward to. Kisses are basically the pay off to me, but I dislike how every confession/kiss (in games) usually ends up in sex. "We like each other? LET'S GET TO BED HURRY!"

So if Sebastian IS a romance and he IS chaste -- f yeah I'm down with it. Holy crap, am I down with it. I don't have a burning desire to see them all naked. Maybe shirtless. But not like ... sexy times. That's a bit ... cloying. ^_^

I agree. It's interesting and I haven't seen it attempted elsewhere in a Bioware game. They usually culminate in sex, which is usually the least interesting part of the romance path to me.

I wouldn't exactly say my relationship with my hubby was hollow. We didn't partake before marriage and we've been married 22 years.

Again, I'm perfectly fine with waiting till marriage. It would be the "never forever" option that would be annoying, to me.

Precisely. :) It's something very new and interesting, imo. The fact that he's so bloody gorgeous only adds to the allure of not being about to touch. Or maybe I'm just masochistic.

I'm intrigued by a chaste romance option. Indeed, this character is this first news about DA2 that has made me regret not pre-ordering.

Because even Aveline isn't just another Aveline! I still refuse to believe otherwise until a developer specifically says, "Aveline never flirts back with Hawke and you cannot end up sexually, romantically or even emotionally involved with her by the end of the game."

If I get the sense that my Hawke absolutely can't ever shag Sebastian, though, even theoretically in the future, then he won't be my first romance unless I adore his character so much that I can't resist him. Otherwise, he'll be on my to-do list, big time, but probably after I've played my Fenris-or-Anders straight playthrough and my Merrill-or-Isabela lesbian playthrough, and possibly after my Male Hawke torturously in love with Aveline playthrough.

I agree, it's not hollow, and not a dealbreaker... but it is a bit of a heartbreaker for me, still. I just... I like sex. The idea of no sex just makes me sadface. :crying:

Still, if I make a character who for some reason isn't into sex--too much of it or traumatic experiences with it--then I could dig it. But I still have to high-five Lady Satsuki in that it really does seem like "an egregious waste of a hottie."

Then again, so does Varric not being romanceable.

Ohhh, please let it be more than a hollow line!

Honestly, I could take an entire game of no sex, but I do want him to eventually get busy with my Hawke, even if I never see the result. It's just the idea of two people being in love but never getting it on that would bug me. I can't say I mind the whole sexytime thing for the second game (it will likely be much better than it was in the first game) but I'd rather a character lack the usual sex scenes and have a romance than have no romantic content at all.
