Even if that was written in good English, it wouldn't have made any sense. Why would extra content be retroactively added to a finished game just because it is ready at launch?

Actually it's to suck 7 more dollars.

More important, if they couldn't charge for Sebastian, why make him at all?

Because they didn't have time to put it in the full game? Companies do have an area now devoted entirely to DLC while the other team works on the game. Just because the DLC comes out the same day as the game doesn't mean debs had the time to program it into the full game.

If DLC didn't exist, The Exiled Prince would have just been an idea that didn't make the cut.

Welcome to 2011... DLC isn't going anywhere, so just get used to it. Besides, the Exiled Prince is from the Signature Edition. Hell, I'm just thankful I have a chance to get it at all.

Bioware works in teams. By necessity, some of these teams finish before others; you can't start building a cutscene until you have dialogue, for example. When a team finishes, rather than sit around drinking margaritas (although I understand the writers always drink margaritas), they move on to DLC projects.  Anyway, the reason that DLC is not a part of the main game is because it isn't finished by the time the game goes gold. If there weren't a medium to download additional content, Sebastian wouldn't exist.

Project Ten Dollar. Google it. It only affects people who are cheap and buy games pre-owned.

Its called promotional DLC, it was for those hardcore fans who had enough faith to buy the game before January 11th. I for one will be enjoying playing with my signature edition and not having to pay that extra 7 dollars ;D

Couldn't implement the character in time.

And it's free for those who preordered before january.

Okay, here's how it works. The folks making the core game have so long to work on it. Then, the rest of the dev time is spent on polish. That doesn't require everyone who worked on DA2. So those folks can start working on new DLC content.

The game disk has to be pressed months in advance. DLC allows them to trim the edges and add anything missing for when the game comes out.

I agree with ya OP. I wish they released the full game at launch and then came out with the DLC later, but that doesn't seem to be plausible anymore. I have no issues at all with the incentive stuff, but creating an entire character and his quest/dialogue bits and then not including it already in the full game before it is even released is a bad habit that really needs to be dropped. I just wish they would consider adding in characters and quests etc. for DLC AFTER the game has launched.

Although this is about the 100th thread I've responded to like this...

It's a strategy to prevent used sales. The software industry thinks they are special and that we are not allowed to sell our property, oh sorry licenses. That's why they butcher used copies with release-day dlc.

You're talking about content that is released simultaeneously ALONGSIDE the game, if it is content that didn't make the cut you'd think they would release it weeks or even days after the original release...In this case, the content did 'make the cut' its just a case of 'EA wanting to squeeze customers dry' you know this is true, I know this is true, so why deny it? out of loyalty to Bioware? Please just accept the straight facts.

7 $ And who ever preordered signature edition will get it free and sig ed. costed the same as normal so yeah, he was more like a promotional item to boost preorder sales imo and to tell the truth it worked on me :) . At least its not like the stupid exclusive dlc that you can only get if you buy in gamestop or something.

I find it funny, Bioware at least is giving this dlc to those who pre-ordered the game before jan 11th, other games that didnt have time to finish content simply make everyone pay for it, plus I find it a good way to reward the dedicated fans.
