7 $ And who ever preordered signature edition will get it free and sig ed. costed the same as normal so yeah, he was more like a promotional item to boost preorder sales imo and to tell the truth it worked on me. At least its not like the stupid exclusive dlc that you can only get if you buy in gamestop or something.
The game was not been released and we have DLC !!!

Besides, if you were like me and many others, you would have gotten the Exiled Prince DLC for free with your preorder. Your fault if you missed it.

Guys, is this the sort of thing we should report? Not for being an insulting jerk; that's expected. I mean the priacy promotion.

Yes.In fact, i guess OP is jealous of those who preordered more than pissed off about DLC at release.
I could be wrong though.

If DLC didn't exist, The Exiled Prince would have just been an idea that didn't make the cut.
You're talking about content that is released simultaeneously ALONGSIDE the game, if it is content that didn't make the cut you'd think they would release it weeks or even days after the original release...In this case, the content did 'make the cut' its just a case of 'EA wanting to squeeze customers dry' you know this is true, I know this is true, so why deny it? out of loyalty to Bioware? Please just accept the straight facts.
By 'simultaneously alongside the game' you mean several months after the game was finished? DLC content can be made available in a week. It takes months to create and ship enough copies of a finished game. It's more efficient to use that dead time on DLC.

Separate team, separate budget, and the full game has a strict deadline. I have no loyalty to Bioware, but I'm not completely ignorant as to how game development works. Or maybe I am? Doesn't matter, I'm getting the Signature Edition.
The only thing that I think is completely out of hand is the sheer amount of promotional DLC.

You do know that it's easy to model a character but to actually texture/animate, model the environment and devolop his sidequests/companion and story interactions/ etc... it takes time right? They can announce he will be free for those who pre-ordered and show a little pic of him and have none of his side quests done or environments modeled,etc...

I kind of got to agree, though I think it is EA's meddling to do this. Besides, they did this with Shale back in Origins. Just that you had to purchase the golem if you didn't get the game new (lucky me). Sadly if Bioware said is true, we won't get the Ultimate Edition so it is unlikely we will get the DLC new in the future... Thankfully I preordered SE.

Then if you are an adult(which doesn't seem to be the case), you must be able to afford 7 bucks ? Or just don't buy it ? It's only one character. No need to whine.

Well the DLC was never planned to make it into the game. And it is a rip-off. Simple as that. Reason I am playing the game without. Actually it is sort of modern legal piracy. So I find it rather funny if companies complain about people pirating their products if they are actually not doing much better. Anyway, not saying piracy is good or that I would ever do it. But it's always the same. If people feel their goverment cheats on them, they will try to cheat on their government. If they think a company cheats on them ... same thing. That's why companis or governmens should at least try to be subtle about it. Releasing a DLC together with the core game is not really sublte.
...Most of the opening DLC is free and i'm takin' it.

If it's free I am taking it too. I don't complain about DLCs in general or that they cost money though. Just the timing is rather odd since it ... just looks bad.Carlthestrange wrote...

Well, Shale is a little different. The devs have said that Shale had been planned for the game, but was buggy. The release delay let them turn Shale into DLC. Without the delay Shale might have showed up as paid DLC later. Without DLC Shale would have just been cut, like so many things from every RPG ever released.
In Sebastian's case, Bio always knew that they were going to do Day 1 DLC. The budget for him was the budget for Day 1 DLC. So, no Day 1 DLC, no Sebastian.
