So almost everyone complained about the squad "armor" in ME2, yet I don't see those complaints for DA2

people complained, but you certainly still have more customization than in ME2. in ME2, you could choose different guns and different colored uniforms. Thats it. In DA2, some will upgrade thier armor and in addition, you can add runes, trinkets, and other things to make them more powerful.

so shush!

Trust me, the blow to ME2 was far greater, and hopefully, the fact that there is SOME customization in DA:2 means that Bioware is still listening.

Hated it in ME2, hate it now. But I've said my piece.

Keep saying it.  You won't change people's minds by being quiet.

What a good point.  We get no where by saying, "Oh Bioware, it's such a great game!"  Remember, a game can still be great with flaws....

I have a feeling that when you upgrade Isabella's outfit she puts on pants

I hope not :crying:

I hope she gets clothes.

*points at sig*

Pants are also an illusion, just like death.

For what it's worth, Isabella, Fenris, Sebastian Vael, and the Mabari are the only ones that will not change appearance at some point during the game; all other companions have alternate outfits.

Damn:pinched: I was hoping I could give my mabari chainmail armor it would be much better than painting him

By what standard could you possibly define inventory management as not being part of gameplay?

I happen to think it's an enjoyable part of gameplay, but I don't see how anyone could deny that it's gameplay at all.  And yet you just did that.

You find  it enjoyable. I don't.

I would rather be moving the story forward, completing side quests, or even reading the lore in the codex for that matter. Sure, obtaining new equipment can be fun, particularly if it's done by beating a particularly hard boss. However, having to scroll through your inventory every thirty mins deleting worthless weapons and armour just to make room for more worthless weapons and armour is not fun.

Sure, my point is more directed towards Mass Effect than Dragon Age, but DA had its fair share of trash as well. It was just slightly more useful as vendor trash, seeing as money was harder to come by.

Here, I got this question.

If people say they want their NPC Likelife, then get annoyed when they can't change the Armor, do you mean to tell me that you want complete control over the characters and what they do? Won't that defeat the purpose of actually, having lifelike characters.

I agree with you there.  The inventory in ME was terrible, but removing it outright seemed a little extreme.  I, for one, miss weapon mods...

Even if you don't count Isabella (who is the obvious "culprit"), almost everyone else is hardly wearing armor at all.

There have been many complaints. I for one, am not one of the complainers.

Pfft. If someone complained about it in ME2, it was probably because some of the companions walked in vacuum with a mere rebreathe and their standard clothes. I'll wager DA2 doesn't visit vacuum at any point.

I dont mind it in me2, only thing i hated was no helmet toggle lol. so with da2 sticking to same route as me2 for companion armour BUT letting you upgrade them via enchanments and also giving the helmet toggle for hawke well im happy with that lol.

I would expect The Fade to still be in space, as in open space, dream world, magic, yade-ja, but Deep Roads you say? Are they going to implement crazy high ceilings or something? <_< Still, I imagine they will survive without space suit in those environs.

You raise a good point there. I think there has to be a happy middle groud, and I'm hoping Bioware found it with the DA 2 inventory system. Still allows you to micromanage the weapons, accessories, and runes of your party members but removes a lot of the fiddling with/comparison of different pieces of armour.

Of course, the downside being that only Hawke will have armour above his level standard, but that's a small sacrifice in my opinion.

Have people tried, like, not picking up the vendor trash?
Worked well in Awakening, but then, Awakening throws pots of gold at you, like it's a bloody Leprechaun festival.

I hate this change, just like I hate the fact that Isabela will refuse to equip a bow. I just feel like it limits my options and replayability. What if I really want an archer in my party, but I hate the NPC who is an archer by default?

Oh well, I will keep an open mind. I generally am not much of a complainer, so it's unlikely I'll ever mention it again, lest someone accuse me of wanting to play "dolly dress-up" with the characters.

My initial reaction is that removing choice from the player (both in the form of stat min/maxing and visual aesthetics) is a bad idea, but I've heard BioWare's justification for the decision and I'm certainly willing to give it a chance.

I know not everyone enjoys inventory management and min/maxing as I do (yes, I enjoy inventory management) and freeing players from part of it while enhancing companion NPCs' uniqueness and personality could be a step in the right direction. I'm waiting to see it in action before I judge it too harshly.

Much as I might hate not having full contol for the companions in terms of inventory, this game has so many problems for me (so very many) that there are bigger issues to worry about. And that's modable.

Because they at least improved upon mass effect 2's crappy companion armor...no it's not even armor it's the companion wardrobe they do nothing, it really ticks me off that they had the nerve to throw us appearance packs that also did nothing special! So really not as many people aren't upset because it doesn't suck as much as mass effect's, hey do my 30 minute mission and I'll throw on a similar outfit to the one I have on

What's that? I didn't see it in the DA2's info page. It's not in the moon, is it? I remember in DA: Origins there was a dashing moon on the sky, there for your viewing pleasure everytime you took rest in the camp.
