So almost everyone complained about the squad "armor" in ME2, yet I don't see those complaints for DA2

What's that? I didn't see it in the DA2's info page. It's not in the moon, is it? I remember in DA: Origins there was a dashing moon on the sky, there for your viewing pleasure everytime you took rest in the camp.

One outfit with a skin change late game vs. one gradually upgradeable outfit.
Bullets and psuedo magic vs. swords, arrows, and actual magic.
Poisonous atmospheres, cosmic radiation, vacuum of space vs. .... bad weather?
I like neither of the options for not being able to equip your companions how you like. That being said I dislike DA2's system much, MUCH less than ME2's.

I hate this change, just like I hate the fact that Isabela will refuse to equip a bow. I just feel like it limits my options and replayability. What if I really want an archer in my party, but I hate the NPC who is an archer by default?
Oh well, I will keep an open mind. I generally am not much of a complainer, so it's unlikely I'll ever mention it again, lest someone accuse me of wanting to play "dolly dress-up" with the characters.
It limits your the replayability? Really? Are you going to give your companions worse armor the second time around? C'mon man!

Oh. That's fair game.
My point still stands. There is no space aka vacuum-like hazardous envinronment in DA2, so I don't care if they all face the Darkspawn naked. Well, maybe it would be a little distracting, but that's besides the point.
For the record, yes, I was one of those who complained about squad-armour in ME2. I still did enjoy that the design on most of them.

Ah well, to be on topic: I don't complain about it because I like the outfits in both games. Move on.

People want lifelike and want the Characters to act on their own...then why can't they choose how their fight and wear their clothes and weapons.

At least in DA2 they look like they have armor after they reach Kirkwall.

I was very upset when I heard about it in ME2. I didn't mind it not being there to terribly much but I missed being able to customize my gear and outfit my team to better suit my play style. I don't think DA 2 went the ME 2 route otherwise they would have taken away our ability to customize our squad in a way that suite our play style.
Yes we can't put different armor on them but I bet we can change the stats on the armor they are wearing fairly drastically with runes. Besides if you give your art crew standard models to work with they can do more and better vfx with the game. I'd trade customizing the look of my team for cooler graphics so long as I get to customize the functionality.

Just to use an example, in DAO, I could use Wynne as a Spirit Healer in my first playthrough, and would give her the best mage robes I could find. If I made her an Arcane Warrior in my second playthrough, I could outfit her accordingly. It gave me a chance to experiment with different skill trees and builds. That's all I'm saying.
This is exactly why I rarely post. Some posters love to give others grief because they say they aren't happy with a design decision or because they are a "nitpicky ass".

The issue here is that there are conflicting views on the role and nature of companions. Some players view the companions as somewhat akin to NPCs. Others tend to view the companions more along the lines of alternate PCs. Granted there is a continuum between these two positions. In general it seems that the players that view the companions as somewhat independent NPCs don't mind that the player can't adjust the attire of the companions because it helps maintain the illusion of autonomy. Clearly the companions aren't fully autonomous in this game because the players maintain control of many parts of companion play.Dr. wonderful wrote...

The other group tends to favor control over more elements associated with the companions, clearly including armor.
In a game like this there is a tension between these two positions. In DA:O you could have your companions accompany you dressed only in their undies. Personally that would destroy any sense of immersion for me because that seems very out of character for the companions as independent characters.
I am not suggesting that one side's view is better than the other's. Nor am I suggesting that everyone's decision-making neatly falls into either. Personally in DA:O I tried to equip the companions in gear that I thought that they would prefer. This helped me maintain the illusion that I was interacting with independent characters.

I think for now I don't complain. But I think we will all bad ( even those who say they do not complain ), once we play the game
I can't imagine with Isabella. The show held its fight with so light, without armor throughout the game and until the end, will do very poorly. ^^

Except if you have been following along playing a character that is outside the archtype of a mage...i.e. a warrior that casts spells is just not going to happen with an NPC now. The NPC has a general mode it works in and even their own custom specs.Miss Greyjoy wrote...

This time to use your Wynne example it is more like Wynne joins your party and says I am a mage that casts spells....I won't be wearing platemail cause I hate it. Varric is going to say no I won't use that shinny dagger cause Bianca here would be jealous. This means that in those really cool fight sequences and story sequences the graphics engine will already be optimized for the gear our party will be wearing, aside from weapons, and will be better able to handle showing us the story. It doesn't mean we can't customize our NPC's. It just means we can't visually change their armor. We can change all sorts of stats about the armor with runes but not the visual that the armor has.

Maybe she just straight up doesn't know how to use a bow?
