From Virmire, to Ilos to The Citadel to the awesome credits song, I don't think anything compares this gen.

Agreed. Best end game I've personally played.

I personally thought the SM was a touch more intense, as Termi-Baby and Laser-Frog were about equally corny. But damn, Bioware knows how to make kickass endings.

The end of ME2 was an anti climax compared to the experience of Mass Effect. Especially when all I could think of when I saw the end boss was "rip-off" from one the biggest movies of the 20th century!

I 100% agree with the OP, no moment in gaming has ever gripped me as much as the ending run on Mass effect. It still gets to me now.

And change it to?. Oh, I see what you did there. But that was about 2/3 of the way in.

I concur with the 'original post', Mass Effect 1, is arguably (perhaps) the most cinematic video game ever made! One of the most bad ass moments, that i have ever seen in my life. From Blade, taking out the vampires in that 'Blood Bath' opening scene, to Trinity kicking ass in The Matrix, O.S., or Jack Bauer: just being Jack Bauer, has to be when Commander Shepard and his team, are on their way to the Council's chamber, during the Battle of the Citadel, the elevator stops and without missing a beat, Shepard Commander, shoots out the protective glass of the elevator and they get of it and start space walking!!

It was just so... Indescribily Cool! They didn't... skip a beat... they just all but instantaneously adapted to the situation...While your 'space walking' you can see Soveriegn in the foreground... its just brilliant! I don't know much about the Mass Effect movie that's being made, (whether its going to be about ME1 or 2, or one of the books) but that part , has to be in it!!

Mass Effect 1, had a way of convincing me as a player, that what was being asked of me during the course of my adventures, was important, dire and a necessary service... When preparations was being made for the Virmire mission, i felt as though i was there myself, with the STG, facing an almost insurmountable task. Visting Illos was unforgetable, defeating Saren and thrawting Soveriegn... was Legendary...

Mad the terrible mistake last year of finishing ME2 without ever playing ME, and only got round to finishing ME last Friday in preparation for playing through the sequel again. I have to say I agree with the OP. My personal favourites were Ilos and The Citadel, which is perhaps the best level of any video game I've played. Epic!

I think this merely raw audio-artistic runthrough does somehow show how awesome the endgame is.
And yes, I concur, after Therum, Feros and Noveria, Virmire up to (including) the credits is something so powerful I have never played before and even only few movies actually reach that level. Truly awesome!

I would agree. Assuming there are no more sidequests done after you escape from the Citadel.

Virmire is intense. Ilos is so melancholy and sad...it feels like there's a sinking feeling in my heart whenever I go there.

Racing for the Conduit and stopping Saren...epic.

Oh, and the Faunts! Image IPB
