Aye Astro <3,i love rolling a rogue,i usually play the sneaky,cunning,evil/out for myself kind of character, also in DA:O it's extremely satisfying to role play as a rogue for me.

If memory serve's me i think i played a good character in Mass Effect all the way through,i meant to go back and play an evil doer but never got around to it,i suppose i'll just roll one during ME2,but i'll go back to ME and roll me a baddie if it pay more to have a saved game over starting ME2 from scratch.....why am i ranting about ME....ok going to bed now...

Im a complete noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. I play my game through STEAM, i tried to look for the folder "bin_ship\\daupdater.exe" but could only locate folder named "bin_ship" and no daupdater.exe folder inside. When i tried to save it to that folder it does not recognize the dazip file and could not open it. Please help!!!

im unfamiliar with steam but i hear they have ways to check and repair their files through their client? Maybe there's a similar option with the updater and its not showing it. You could also try to search your computer in disk that DA:O is installed and if not there try the folder

edit for daupdater.exe of course

Got it. Thanks. I finally got Morrigan out of the Shapeshifter specialization...

I like my Rogue a lot, mostly because I cant pick locks with a warrior or mage, but hey, I'm a fiend for loot and petty theft.

Went DW Bard/Duelist, having fun. Traps, bombs, poison, stabbing people repeatedly in the back, good times.

Highly agree.  I started out as a mage but switched over to a rouge and I have been having more fun in battles and in towns pick pocketing people   Having a lock picker on the team is a must as well.  Sadly there seems to be a lack of sweet daggers at the moment.  Sounds like you just have to enchant them up?

I LOVE playing rogues and am playing one, if only because for role play purposes they are awesome at being the cunning/sensible ones with a way with words. And let's not forget all the tactical reasons already covered.

Kinda sad that it sort of rules out Leliana and Zev in my usual party though, since I go for balance (mage, rogue (me), tank, + extra (usually another tank for safety).

Traps are the way to go. Caltrops around exploding traps are a good way to prevent or at least delay being flanked. Get that dual up to master and take two primary single hand weapons... just remember less piercing and damage is then based on Str insted of Dex.

@ Astro_88: Rogues can do some massive damage, more specifically the dual-wield spec. Keep in mind, strength and dexterity is required for a rogue as there aren't any good high-end daggers (that I have seen).

There are several skills that are needed for a great dual-wield character: momentum, tainted blood (I believe this increases attack speed, yes?), dual-wield mastery (the skill that allows your character to use two mainhand weapons), and haste (optional but I find it amazing). Three out of the four skills here increase attack speed; this combined with poisons and other weapon procs like paralysis runes make rogues beastly.

Remember to increase strength and dexterity fairly equally. My first character was a DW rogue, my second is a DW warrior, essentially the same. I have over 40 str and dex, almost 300 hp at lvl 16. This warrior is running at a steady 55% of the party damage, with about a 25% crit. rate. So all in all, very fun.

I thought Cunning increased critical strike %, am I wrong?  And once you get Lethality, why increase Strength besides to wear higher tier armor?

Not trying to pick a fight here at all, just trying to get my facts straight.  Thanks.

I enjoy using rogues. I have two in my party. A bard/duelist and a bard/ranger. Both of the rogues use archery and can mow down the enemies. The bard/duelist can help out the warrior and the Bard/ranger is mainly archery support and the summons can add some melee damage as well. The two rogues compliment one another to perfection.

i made a rouge duelist that is lethality based.

i dislike use of the str stat for determination of melee power, outside of hand to hand fighting, "muscling" a weapon will only get you killed.

pwr or technique would be a better indicator of damage done.

however, i don't make "muscled" women- especially since the character model doesn't increase to look like a bodybuilding freak. (which i would avoid).

so basically i increase str somewhat to use some better tier weapons and armor, but base her skill on lethality and an extremely high cunning.

its also a melee duelist somewhat of a tank with a higher con dex and cunning.

gimped compared to a "pure" build, sure, but think on it htis way, most of the cunning would require the boost up to a minimum level anyway- so going pure str, dex, con, might very well end up the same way in order to get certain cunning based rouge abilities.

also using leliana as my archer in the game- shes a beast.  i'm thinking of switching out morrigan and using the dog instead.

I use ZEV as an Assassin/Ranger (I dunno, I just like summons) 90% of the time in parties. THe one problem I have w/ Zev is he never has enough buffs on him.

Also, I put points into lockpicking, and 90% of every chest he picks is garbage loot. And he still can only open like 30% of chests. Worthless skill it seems.

I've just started a rogue, I'm loving it so far. I have a question though, is Dual Wield mastery really necessary? I do have the dex fix for Daggers if that's the reason everyone's ditching them.

If you are using Zevran in your party always, clear out a dungeon/whatever then go back in with Leliana and use her to lockpick.

saves 4 talent points.

Rogue is always the first class I play in a new game that has the class. As far as stats go, Cunning is what you raise as a rogue, NOT strength. Cunning replaces the Strength stat as long as Cunning > Strength.

Just raise Strength to the point it lets you wear the best armor you want.

My first play through is with a Rogue. Assassin/Duelist. I usually put poits into sneak and traps but find that just going in and hacking away is the way to go in this game. You have two stunning moves which help alot. Also, my mage stuns mobs and I go to town with backstab. Right Now I am at level 8 and doing 100 dmg on backstab.

At level 18...not 8
