okay got some play time in. *Squees* and I get top of page!

Lucy and Bethany heard someone was mounting an expedition into the Deep Roads. They figured Bartrand would appreciate hiring some guards who have actual experience fighting Darkspawn. Apparently he was crazy as far back as this, since he said "no". So, they meet Varric, his brother who is much more reasonable, even offers his services to Hawke as she works up the money to hire onto the expedition.
Anyone else think Varric has one incredibly badass intro? This is my favorite moment during it. He's written almost like an old west gunslinger (IMO) with a lazy sort of charm. I think I'd have died if Sam Elliot had done his voice over.


First stop is the barracks where, as it turns out, Aveline does have a job for Lucy. A deadly ambush on a patrol, possibly for a caravan.


Once the ambush was taken care of, Captain Jeven was not happy to hear of Aveline's initiative. Priorities being what they were, Lucy wanted her pay, but wasn't going to get it.


A night walk in Lowtown led to the next ambush, Guardsman Donnic barely escaped being killed. The future couple are so cute together!


Back at the barracks, the corrupt Captain Jeven is hauled off and Aveline is given the position instead. Kirkwall may turn out to be a much safer place now.

it's LapisLazuli's retext of that hideous Orlesian DLC armor you get in one of the Warrior packs.

oooooh nice shot! How did you do that?!

And with the armor, yea with the leveling mod, and the retext it is the most attractive decently stat armor.  The Gelnigig armor is better but omfg it's hideous.  Warriors got seriously hosed with the pack.  Good stats, but crap-looking gear.

And the champion armor while I have a lovely retext doesn't have as nice of stats in comparison.

Welcome Diego! Glad to see you here! I like Joreen. Are you starting a new game, or is this from your previous PT?

A new one, just started. I don't know if you remember, my first playthrough didn't went too well, I lost most of my companions, then I did a second using a save game editor to cheat. This time I'm not using any cheats. Gonna try to get the "loyalty" of almost all companions, except Sebastian, which I intend to get 100% rivalry  so when he gets pi**ed off because I will not kill Anders, I'll tell him to fu** off! Can't wait to have the chance to kill him and "his army" when he gets back to Kirkwall and claim his throne to me. At least I hope BioWare give us this chance someday.

Edit: and just for the record, his name is pronounced "Iören" with the "j" sounding like "ee" in english, the "ö" is like "o" in english but shorter and more like some french phonetics, and the "een" on Joreen sound something like "and" in english. Those phonetics doesn't exist in portuguese (my first language). I created it based on various languages...

When I first saw the shot I thought "WTF is he wearing" then realized it's that rock armor spell. I use a mod to get rid of that "The Thing" of the Fantastic Four appearance.

I hate All That Remains. Usually I bring along Aveline, Fenris and Sebastian (If a mage). If warrior or rogue, then I have to bring Merrill for heals. Aveline makes the most neutral comment (the woman in the portrait looks like Leandra). Fenris and Sebastian haven't made any comments at all (their's may be overriden by other companions, I am unsure, I've never gone down there with just them--if anyone has knowlege of what they say, I'd like to know). Merrill says "It's a pretty little shrine". Really Merrill? Glad you can appreciate that while Hawke's worried about his/her mom in the hands of an obsessed serial killer/blood mage. Isabela *been a while, I forget what she says* something along the lines of "If I get this way, kill me". I'm willing to oblige her at that moment. Varric just mutters "Creepy" (which is, at least, tolerable but uncalled for all the same). Anders is the worst. Something about "Think we'll find more than a bag of bones this time?" Really, dude? REALLY??? No, we won't just find bones this time, we'll find my chopped up mom, you ass! I was so shocked by what I heard, after that one time I never take him along anymore.

I realize some people use humor to cut the edge off of fear/horror, but I found most of their comments to be inappropriate to the situation, considering how worried/freaked out Hawke sounds while she/he is looking for Leandra. For me, Bioware really epic failed in writing the companions during that quest.

The level of insensitivity displayed made me want to whip out the murderknife and leave them all down there with Quentin, and wish I could just solo going down in there!

Odd. In my PT Anders just says something like, " It's a shrine to ..someones sister, wife?". But I agree, the writing there is lacking. I will say that the VA for female Hawke did a wonderful job conveying Hawke's emotions.

I will check out the mod to remove the rock apperance. I had forgotten one was out there!

It's an ambient (I think that's what the non-cutscene dialogues are called?) dialogue as you're moving through the foundry.  It was so awful it's the only one that stuck in my head.  Not sure what the others may (if anything) say.  After I heard that, I usually turn down the sound for that part of the game, I just hate the writing in there.

sylvan, normally there is so much going on that I often miss dialog unless it's in a cut scene. Or if the party is just walking along. I hate when people are talking and fighting at the same time. This is the only game that I've played where folk's are willing to continue their conversations after the fight starts!

 Okay, MASSIVE Maria update time...this time completely focused on Merrill,next udate will be a return to the Act 2 questline... btw...@ Lvl 22 - she is now a Spirit Healing of Bloody Force Mage( aka due to a mod, she gained the spirit healer spec @ level 21).  :innocent: 

Sorry, I don't post as much...but SWTOR has all of my time these days and with KoA( 2/7) and ME 3(3/6) not far off of release either... my time will be even less to give to DA 2... I will try for weekly updates though.

Is that a BOMB Varric shot out of Bianca? What is that thing? That is AMAZINGLY cool! I'm gonna have to pay closer attention to what my group is doing, I miss so much in combat.
Does Carver get the Templar spec if he goes Templar after Act 1? Is that new?  I saw Bethany got force mage last game.  (I've only just removed my "All abilities for everyone" mod).  It's put some balance back into my game again not to have it installed.

sylvan, Carver DOES get the Templar spec. after Act 1. If he's a Templar, of course I had never seen what all Bianca can do! I was looking at something else when I paused, and I was like 'what IS that thing?'. Makes me want to play a rouge archer next time and try to pay attention!
