The Garret Hawke from trailers is the preset number two in character creation screen.

Preset 2 looks like Hawke from the trailer would in a couple of decades. I could deal with it during Act 3, perhaps, but not at the start. The above looks to have taken a number of years (and creases) off of preset 2, which would be awesome to know how to do.

DA2 has flags within its char creator scripting to make preset #1 and #2 uneditable.  Within chargenmorphcfg.xml you can manually copy the preset to either two additional slots, or have them overwrite two other presets.  You can then edit the presets themselves, changing the skin to your pleasure.

I would suggest doing this: copy the presets to two additional slots, not taking up any other presets.  Start a game using the default face, as to not screw up your family's appearance.  Then go to the Black Emporium and change your face to the added preset, modify as desired.

Here is my XML:
http://rapidshare.co...genmorphcfg.zip
Extract into:
C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\packages\\core\\override
If you own windows vista/7

This XML adds the presets at the end, like I said, and also companion's hair, default Hawke hair/beard.

Like I said, DO NOT use the last two presets (editable defaults) at the start of the game, or else your family will look screwed up.  The game's scripting defines premade faces to your family depending on what preset you use.  Example: Did player use preset 3?  -> Use this face for Bethany.  The game's scripting effectively takes into account the first 11 presets (2 uneditables and 9 crap presets), so arbitrary 12th and 13th presets will yield a screwed up result for family.  Do as I said, use preset #1 or 2 so your family looks normal, and then modify at the Black Emporium afterward.   You can then use the editable Hawke preset and change the complexion to a smoother skin.

I've been trying to make a good looking dark-skin male Hawke, but it hasn't turned out so well. Yours is really good though, mind posting the sliders? =)

Good info, that. Thanks. There's mods out that do so and add extra options to the CC, as well.

Since there's no "smother face in Oil of Orlais" option to remove wrinkles (none of the complextion options get rid of them for me), I think the real question people might have is "what is this Hawke's secret to looking so young?"

You, sir, are awesome. Thanks so much for this! It's been bothering me all night. All my Hawke faces come out looking super-fat in conversation scenes.

Okay - may I first say, gorgeous Hawke. Really handsome fella. And how the heck did you get him into Sebastian's armour? I can't stand Sebastian but I'm crazy about that armour :/

It's bought from the mage shop at Gallows, during act 1. The stats of the robe are not so good. Can't remember what it was called - I've already selled it away during my gameplay.

Thanks! I rather like how he turned out, had to quite a few times to make it fit the voice better. Anyway, as for Sebastian's armour, I replaced the Blood Dragon Armour with its model in Item_Variations.gda, you can extract it from 2da.rim under "Dragon Age 2\\packages\\core\\data\\".

Since the armour has both gloves and boots included, you'll have to make their respective parts transparent on BDA if you want to avoid clipping issue. The model for Sebastian's armour is "arm_vael" and there is also a matching helmet that goes by "hlh_vael". You'll have to set COLUMN_10 under the helmet to 0 for your face to show up. If it doesn't work, just pm me.

I wish there was some database type website for Dragon age, like Mass effect faces, but with sliders. D:
