Hi, sorry if this question has been answered before. I lost my previous saves due to a corrupt profile and it gave me the push to revisit this game again.

I have 100% all achievements so have all the exp bonuses etc associated with that. I wanted to know if there is enough experience points left in the game for me to reach level 60. I have just hit level 59 (so have 200,000ish to go), have all the side/story missions done up to this point and have just landed on virmire.

Difficulty is normal at the mo.

So is there enough for me to do it?

Many thanks.

Not sure tbh, you've got Virmire, some extra Citadel sidequests, Ilos and the finale back at the Citadel. At 59 to 60 there is indeed a massive xp gap and if you've just got 59 then it might not be possible best way to get more xp is kill everything on foot during the Mako sections. Personally I got to 60 during Virmire from a lvl 53 character so you might not find out if you're gonna make it till you've got to the end which is a bummer.

I'm curious do you have any of the DLC's for ME1 and have you completed them yet if you have?

I went from 50 to 60 in the second playthrough doing all sidequest (Ddts and pinnacle station) and killing all on foot, I reached lvl 60 destroying the turrets in my way to the council chamber, so if you didn't kill all on foot ...

Turns out it wasn't possible. Got within 100k exp of it when I completed the game. Gonna go through again just completing the story missions.

You can still do side missions, especially the ones that effect ME2. Once you have reached level 60 you no longer receive XP so it doesn't matter if you kill enemies other than to keep them from hurting you. This means you can blow by enemies in the Mako and laugh as long as they will not kill you. On side missions you can usually blast through in a few minutes to get to the base and then wipe out because you are a high level with good Spec gear. On Story worlds you can skip most/all enemies while driving the Mako so it makes the game go MUCH faster since you aren't trying to kill everything.
I usually can do a level 60 run doing most/all sidemissions in under 10 hours where a low level complete run takes 20-30 hours trying to milk the XP.

Also don't forget to look for the "roads" that Bioware put in for the Mako to drive on. They are paths usually in different color to the steeper rocks and notches in the terrain that makes passage easy for the Mako. You can most times spot the best path using the map looking at the elevation grades, and realizing the straightest path may not be the best path.

Also if you decide to use the Trinket then go out the back and go out of bounds BEFORE doing the rest of the planet, because anytime you go "out of bounds" it takes you back to the starting position of the map, saving you having to fight back over the steep mountains from the trinket globe.

For me the easiest way to go from 1-60 was to do 3 playthroughs without going out of my way to get out of the Mako all the time and doing the most annoying sidequests. I think that would have actually taken me longer than just doing 3 playthroughs. Of course the final playthrough was the "serious" one where most sidequests were completed. But the two first ones were "basic" where I just wanted to get charm/intimidate and quick XP.

In total that took me 27 hours. I wasn't exactly in a hurry, so I'm sure it could have been done much faster.

For getting an import character for ME2, going to that trouble for a level 60 character is hardly worth it, imo. A level 50 character starts at a little lower level, but with the DLC in ME2 its easy to get leveled up to have Jacob's squad incendary ammo for Mordin's mission. I do the "dogtag" mission and Kasumi mission and Citadel experience stuff to get high enough to squad incendary for Jacob.

I can't help it, I MUST have the best import bonuses I can get. It's not based on normal logic :)

Lol second termokanden. I'm running through again just doing the story missions to get to 60, I should play properly I suppose but nevermind.

not to mention 3 playthroughs gets you 4 free charm/intim points every time too.

I had a save fail as well back when ME2 was initially coming out. So I cheesed the liara recruitment laser drill cheat until I was like 58 on my second playthrough. Totally worth it IMO.

If on PC, you can always reload a save before the end and add a few k xp.

I recently did a 2 playthrough (both on hardcore) to level 60 Vanguard. In the first one, I wasn't really trying for max XP / levels, just getting out of the Mako once in a while for a few kills and only did some side missions. I got to level 51.

On my second playthrough, I decided to go for 60 and killed everything on foot. I had zero Mako kills. It's not as bad as you think, just max out the pistol with points (max out the spectre talent also for weapon damage), ammo and upgrades. It does amazing amount of damage on Master Marksman.

I didn't collect everything. I scanned all the keepers. And decrypting was easy since I had max omigel and max credits by the start of my second playthrough.

When I just had Ilos left as my main mission, I had about 800,000 xp. Realized I didn't have enough after seeing someone say that they barely made it from ~817,000 xp at that point. So I checked out some planetary systems that I hadn't been to, and found 3 more side missions. That got me to ~822,000 xp. I got level 60 with room to spare, hit it at the Geth dropship on the Citadel.

I got a character to lvl 57 in one playthrough, and got to lvl 60 on the second playthrough by the third plot-planet (and maybe 10 or so UNC missions) so it's doable. You might even be able to avoid leaving the Mako too much since that can get tiresome. The mass effect wikia's planet maps are pretty accurate so you can probably maximize xp if you need to. Once you hit 60, just skip any assignments that you really don't need for the story in ME2 (like the Listening Post Alpha/Theta ones) and waste everything in the Mako if it's quicker.

I'm thinking of trying three playthroughs for another to see if I can gain the charm/intimidate points without sacrificing talent points from another area. I used 4 talent points for charm on the Shepard I mentioned earlier since I tend to play paragon path.

I'm incapable of leaving sidequests incomplete in ME1, because even if they don't show up in ME2, who knows what's going to show up later in ME3? ;)
