This is kind of related to the issue surrounding second hand games that is floating around the games industry.I have the opinion that if a game is good enough,a customer will buy it even at full price and won't think of trading it in.One example i use is Mass Effect 2.I think it was worth it's full price on release but i'd like to hear you thoughts.Did you think it was/is?Did you get it second-hand?Would you trade it in?

To me, ME2 was very much worth paying full price. The enjoyment i've got from the game, as well as it's replay value more than made it worth what I payed for it - the same applies to ME1 and Dragon Age Origins too.

I think it depends on what you're looking for. If you're like me and dispise online multiplayer on consoles then ME2 was a much better value proposition for an action game than Halo, CoD or Gears of War combined.
As a narrative sequel to Mass Effect, I did not feel like it lived up to the pricetag, however. Too much was put into disconnecting the story and the characters from its predecessor.

Game's price is not full price. To fully enjoy the game (no in the way that it lacks, it's just significantly richer) you'd have to buy all the meaty DLC (Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord, Shadow Broker...)
Personaly I never seen anyone buying a second hand game on a PC, and with the PS3 and xbox tiles that are not key ulockable It's natural to happen and I don't see why I shouldn't buy a mint condition PS3 game from my buddy for half the price I would pay somewhere else. Of course there also is this "support the developer" thing but I'm starting to loose faith in any kind of support to anyone who's basic wager is bigger than what I earn in a year.

I didn't pay the full price for ME2 (i bought it on amazon.co.uk with awakening when it was released on march 2010 so ME2 was at 25£), but i wouldn't have minded to pay the full price, 50 hours on first play through with an incredible replayability.
As opposite, i bough Dead Space 2 last week, only 15£ brand new on amazon.co.uk.
I really enjoyed the game, but 10 hours on my first playthrough and i was only walking and exploring every area... if i had to pay the full price, i would have felt frustrated, i'm happy i have waited until the price drop for this one.

Bought 2 copies at almost full price (long story) and it was absolutely worth it. Especially since one was the collectors edition.

I paid full price for digital download on first week after release and bought all DLC full price... no regrets... the game is worth that cash!

Mass effect 2 is worth the price though games like cod should consider dropping the price to free, especially when they get the pc community to beta test their game *cough* BO*cough*

I bought both ME1 and ME2 for about 25 euros back in May.
Definitely worth the price.
The DLC of ME2 is a bit of a mixed bag though. I'd say Overlord is worth 560 MSP, LOTSB is worth 800 MSP but barely (if the quality wasn't as high I probably wouldn't have recommended it) and Kasumi wasn't worth it to me at all. Didn't get any other DLC.

Absolutely. I was satisfied with the dlc as well (at least the dlc that involved missions).

Ive bought games recently at full price that I have regreted not waiting for the price drop. ME2 is not one of them.
I paid full whack and have all the dlc and not one shred of regret about parting with the money.
It seems that more and more games these days are leaving me sorry I parted with the full price. DA2 is a game that after playing the demo I have a feeling I will regret paying full on for the SE. I love DAO and have all the dlc and whatnot for this with no regret but DA2 has been given too much of a make it "cool" do-over for me.
Played the Cyrsis 2 demo last night and I ca safely say that I will wait for the price drop on this one. I dont spend my money on a new game thats all about its multiplayer till it drops as a rule. The same will go for ME3 if it has MP.
If half the game is singleplayer and half multiplayer I am only interested in half the game so why should I pay full price? Ill wait for the price to fall by half and call that fair.

As a continuation from ME, the answer would be no. Too many things seem to have been relegated (Char's, story) to the back and discounted in ME2. As a stand-alone game in the ME universe it was good and the price of $59 wasn't unusual.
Fortunately I didn't pay full price for the CE edition, only $35 instead of the $59 EA was asking.

Picked it up for PS3 a couple months ago and haven't played another game since.

I have always that as long as the game is fun to play, than a fair price is about $3 hour of gametime. By that standard, ME2 is super cheap.

Considering all the times my husband and I have replayed it, definitely. We've gotten so many hours of fun out of both ME games. Granted, we bought it $20 new which made it a super good deal. It just meant we had more money to spare on DLC. Of course, now we're trapped and we'll be spending three times that or more to get ME3 new.

exactly that.the replayabilty and quality of the game makes me want to pre-order ME3 as soon as i can (i have never pre-ordered a game before).honestly don't mind the price.in quality i trust.it's rare these days to see games that really deserve the high price they come at and yet developers complain about the second hand market stealing revenue.one would think they would just try to improve quality.bioware are showing them the way forward.i can't imagine ever trading in ME2.YammiSnuffles wrote...

I missed a day of school to go buy ME2. I waited an hour outside the store with my parents until the store opened. So yeah, I bought it full price. Im in college now and Im considering doing the same thing for ME3. I know, Im crazy.

Honestly, I don't think it's fair I only payed $49.99 for it. ME2 was the kind of game that flat out justifies $59.99 PC games.
