Yes, Yes and Yes. I'm sure they'll pull the DA:O and have an ultimate edition shortly before ME3 comes out, but it was worth every penny spent. Just to support Bioware, I've bought all of the DLC for ME2 (even the stuff I don't use).

I got it for £20
It was worth it but the DLC is a bit overpriced.

If anything, the characters were more alive in ME2, because due to the nature of the story they were given more time to shine. As far as criticisms of ME2 go, that one is pretty weak.

To each their own I guess.  Me I would have liked the characters to weigh in a bit on events taking place and choices to be made.  Rather than following Shepard around going "Braiiiiins" (or was that "One less to worry about!"?)  It adds a level of realism if followers have an opinion about, well, anything.  I honestly don't know why we had to have a squad of three in this game.

Yes. I actually paid for it twice. My original Collector's Edition would get to the red Bioware screen and then stop reading, so I had to buy another copy.

Not a chance in hell.

If i'd known back then just how butchered and generic the ME2 system had been made, I would have rented it instead of buying it.

This.

I bought it day one,  and was horrified to discover they'd taken a fine RPG and turned it into a really crappy TPS.  I struggled to play it,  but somewhere around when I realized that Quake's AI was an order of magnitude better,  and the constant contradiction and nonsense in the story became glaring,  I just gave up.

I really feel I was ripped off my $60.

I also really feel that Bioware's gone straight downhill since EA took over,  quality has gone to crap and suddenly they're trying to imitate shooters instead of making RPGs.

I don't think they've got 3 years left.

Bioware are making more money then ever. Just because people like you wish the video game industry and RPG games was still in the nineties doesn't mean everybody else does. More Bioware fans liked ME2 then ME1. Bioware got more critical and commercial sucess from ME2 then from ME1. You really think they don't have 3 years left?

and...

They aren't worth arguing with. Mass Effect 2 had much better critical reviews. Mass Effect 2 had much better player ratings (as evidenced by polls and meters on sites like ign, gamespot, and uh THIS VERY SITE), and finally, Mass Effect 2 sold better. Thus, by every statistical measure Mass Effect 2 was a better game. The "ME1 is superior in every way" crowd is so backward it isn't even funny.

1.  Bioware doesn't make money.  Bioware is owned by EA.  EA makes money.

2.  Isn't it interesting how when people can't find a rational counter arguement they always resort to "Everything but this game is OLD!  Only you bad people want to play OLD games!".

3.  Apparently you are in possession of a survey of every single person who plays games and what they like,  since you clearly state you know that everyone else doesn't like Mass Effect's gameplay.  Would you please post a link to this data for the rest of us?  The complete breakdown I mean.

4.  Apparently you are also in possession of a survey of every single person who bought ME2 and what they like,  would you please post a link to that data as well?

5.  Because otherwise you're just making things up.

6.  Isn't it strange how the industries biggest advertiser's game got all of the awards?  I wonder how that happened...Especially since...

7.  Mass Effect sold 2 million units,  ME2 sold only 1.6.  DAO sold 3.2 million,  and Fable 2 sold 2 million.  So basically,  ME2's at the bottom of the list.

8.  Wouldn't it be really interesting if people realized those "Player ratings" have the low numbers culled out?  Take a look at some of your favorite examples,  it's really fun to notice almost everything below a certain threshold disappears when you go back further.

9.  Would be more interesting if people remembered the massive flame wars on THIS VERY FORUM about the changes.

10.  It's just so highly entertaining,  if you liked Mass Effect (2007) you're "Backwards and old!!!!!!".  I guess cloning Gears of War and throwing in some dialogue makes you up to date?  Oh...wait...Gears of War is as old as Mass Effect...Incoming Paradox!

It's just so entertaining that people use the same attacks to try and shout down anyone who thinks (insert game) made a turn for the worse.  "You're old and a stupid head!" for a game that isn't even 5 years old?  Really?

1. 1. Whatever, if EA makes more money from Bioware's newer titles, they'll be more willing to fund Bioware with more money. Though judging by your other lies and distortions, I have no way of knowing if you're just making that up.

2. Quit using strawmen arguements. I never said old games are backwards or poor. My favourite Bioware titles are BG2 and Kotor. I just think ME2 represents the change and evolution that RPG's needs. As I said, it isn't perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. Having 1 set of items in the game you use and 999 others you just omni-gel is not rich role-playing.  ME2 focuses more on the role playing and less on the nasty stats. The class evolutions were fine, just the sqaudmates got too few powers.

3. There are two polls on this forum I have posted many times, though neither are mine. In one, ME2 Beat Kotor AND ME1 populrity wise. In the other, ME2 just beat ME1. Polls on other websites and critical reviews agree with me.

4. Read 3

5. How cute:wub:

6. CONSPIRACY!!!!!

7. ME1 has been out years longer, and those are old figures. As has been said, counting the PS3 figures (+250,000) and the time that has elapsed, there's no way ME1 is ahead of ME2. I reckon ME2 would probably be ahead of ME1 sales wise anyway without the PS3 games.

8. Sure. Check Metacritic. They allow ratings from 1-10. Average ME2 rating is 9. Average ME1 rating is 8.8. Go figure.

9. People hate change. People always whine louder then they praise, too. As I said, ME2 is more popular here, as proven by polls, the whiners are just loud.

10. I still like ME1, thankyouverymuch. ME2 is nothing like gears of war with dialouge. Being a decent TPS opposed to the awful excuse ME1 was does not automatically make a game a gears of war clone. The only things the ME series and Gears of war have in common is:

1) They're Sci-fi
2) They're TPS's (in mass effects case, TPS/RPG)
3) They were originally both xbox exclusive

/rant over.

I have no problem with people disliking ME2, I just wish they had more valid reasons.  Some is valid (baby terminator), some is personal preference, and most is ridiculous.

ME2 did bomb, I mean, according to figures from nearly a year ago, it sold a few thousand copies less! Bioware is gonna die! You just think all the Mass effect fans are backwards, just because we don't like gears of wars!

etc. etc.

And ME1's 1.6 figure is most likely SHIPPED number, not a SOLD (as in to buyers) since the NPD sales numbers leave a discrepency of 800,000 units sold during the period of time that this 1.6 figure appears.

Dragon Age's 3 million figure is also SHIPPED http://www.industryg...million-copies/

Just like ME2's day ONE 2 MILLION SHIPPED figure.

And keep in mind those figures did not include PC sales at all.

Furthermore the supposed ME1 2 million figure that Gatt9 posted appears to have come from nowhere. I've looked and looked and have never been able to zero in on its origin ASIDE from VgChartz which is notoriously unreliable as well as puts ME2 at 2.5 so there goes that little number.

I'm sure it has crossed the 2 mil mark given the time that's passed, but I find it hilarious that the man who goes on and on about conspiracies uses information that seemingly can only be obtained from VGCHARTZ of all places.

Actually you would be incorrect about DAO, according to EA's report 3Q 2010 DAO and FIFAwere there 2 biggest sellers for EA with DAO selling 3 million copies and FIFA 10 selling 9.7 million. Madden NFL 10, The Sims ™3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Need for Speed™ Shift sold 4 million. ME2 has not been mentioned in any of the EA financial earnings reports since 4Q2010

Are you trying to say that none of the individuals who have posted their dislike or issues with ME2 have only said that "ME2 IS THE CRAPPIEST GAME EVER!  ITS JUST FOR CALL OF DUTY IDIOTS!  HOW
DARE BIOWARE MAKE ITS ACTION ELEMENTS WORK REALLY WELL!  I NEED MORE
MENUS AND MAKOS!  ME2 FANS ARE JUST TOO STUPID TO APPRECIATE THE BEAUTY
OF TEDIOUSNESS!"

Since that's a pretty damn big generalization that lumps everyone who's disliked ME2 and either expressed it poorly or quite articulately into one pile. Without claiming to speak for individuals such as Nightwriter, Iakus, moiassu?, Zulu and more than a few others I think it is safe to say that that is an arrogant and fanboyish accusation to make. I've seen people make those comments you've attributed to everyone who's disliked ME2, but they are not the majority of comments I've ever seen.

From the actual press release:

http://investor.ea.c...eleaseID=443674

EDMONTON, Canada, Feb 08, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Leading video game developer BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced today that Dragon Age™: Origins has sold-in over 3.2 million* units worldwide

Notice the use of the word "Sold-in"?

Definition of sell-in:

sell invb (adverb)1. (Business / Commerce) (tr) [b]to sell (new products) to a retail outlet
to be sold to the public

http://www.thefreedi...ary.com/sell in

If they had actually sold those units to customers they would have used sell through which means: "percentage of units shipped which are actually sold." From Wiki.

Hence the 3.2 mil figure is units shipped, not sold.

Yes it was and i even bought the Collectors Edition. And no i wouldn't trade it in but i never do that even if i don't like the game. I am a collector and have lost way too many money in my youth by buying new games and trading them in to even considering it. If i didn't felt the need to own my games i would rent them instead.

I am going to say it was well worth the full price. I got it on the PS3 and got the DLC with it, story dlc that is. I had to buy the weapon/armor packs seperately
