To the forums, yes. And yes, I realize that goes in an entirely different area.
However, that's not what I'm talking about, exactly. Mostly to toolsets in general (did a BIT with NWN and NWN2.... a TINY, TINY, TINY bit) but brand spanking new to this one as well.
Of course, I already have a grand module idea in my head - a campain set during the main game but taking place in a different area. It'd be pretty cool, if I could do it. (Or have the time to do it.) But here's the thing. I most certainly CAN'T do it. It would require (possibly) creating specializations, making party members, creating a way to totally affect the world through choices, multiple plot brances, cutscences, conversations, items, multiple areas, and all kinds of stuff.
And I'm kind of stuck on figuring out how to even MAKE areas with this toolset. At least I could do THAT with NWN. But now I've got nothing.
So, I was thinking of making a lot smaller projects to kind of warm up to that, and build upon ideas I get there until I'm ready for my first larger project, but even dipping your feet into something is almost impossible if you're not sure where the pool is, so I'd like to ask anyone that can help to point me in the right direction to resources, ideas, and tools that will get me started with the toolset. NWN2 released a world-building book - no such luck here, at least not yet.
I'm new.

Well Curgyr, most people are still getting use to the Toolset still, so there isn't much out yet on "How to" guides. If you haven't already check it out, there is the Wiki ( http://social.biowar.../wiki/datoolset ) which you can read over. Otherwise you'll have to wait till some one comes up with some sort of Video Tutorial... or just poke around the Toolset for fun! Just try not to break anything that looks important, like say a "Don't push this button" button.

Got it. Don't break important things, and check out the wiki. I was aware it existed, but was wondering if anyone would suggest anything different. Thanks.

What other suggestions could you want? The wiki is excellent and growing and there are tutorial videos going up daily. On top of that, practice. Join a project group. Read this forum consistently.
I mean, if you are having problems even building an area, there are two or three separate tutorials already on how to that specific thing.

I've found building areas in the level editor is one of the more daunting tasks (though maybe because I'm not an artist). I found it a lot easier to start out using premade area layouts that fit what I needed, at least to start with.
