As far as I can tell, DAII kicks DA:O's behind when it comes to the graphics. The most obvious difference was the scene that compared DAII's... whatever location to the Brecillian Forest. There were SHADOWS.

Thanks for the link. I had missed it somehow. I like the more distinct style of DA2 and apart from the darkspawn it all seem to look better (and darkspwan where always zzzZZZzzz anyway)

I like that they look a bit more different from humans and have their own accents this time around. ^_^

Hmm...differences from that video seem to showcase that combat animations are more cartoony now, game areas are darker, there's a dialogue wheel, elves are more scrawny and party character icons are square, not round. Windowing the footage side by side to compare it at low resolution seems to defeat the purpose of a graphical comparisson since the graphical updates are fairly moderate. Thanks for the link OP, lol at IGN...as usual.

its better to use a console for graphical comparisons like this where the platform has fixed graphical capabilities while pcs can vary from each other quite greatly in that aspect.

Which is why you should have a top of the line pc play both games to see what both games can do at their best. Not what a console can do with it. 360 version of dao was inferior to the PC in every way.

they can always make another video showcasing just that.

but for comparisons i still think consoles are the ones to look at due to the reasons i stated.

no pc/console rivalry statement intended.

No rivalry intended indeed. I find it childish. I own all 3 consoles and a gaming pc.

The main point is though, that a console is a scaled down pc. Showing people how good it looks on the 360 doesn't do the game justice. If they showed it on PC just to show how good the game can be at its best, then people can just roll back quality a bit and bam you hit console levels.

As it stands, I have no idea how good the game will actually look. I just know it looks better than the 360 version of origins. Which by it self looked worse than the PC version of the same game. <_<

Give the new elfs something TO EAT. They look like they're close to starving to death!

Thank god the stiff animations and clay-faced people have gone. It might seem odd to complain about it since I'm using one of my characters as my avatar, but that's more for lack of custom avatars; the people in DA:O looked like they were all members of some giant inbred, clay person family. They also seem to have got rid of the claw hands which looked like someone had tied mannequin hands to the end of their sleeves. The one area which wasn't an obvious step up was the elf woman talking vs Morrigan talking. The elf woman just looked a little too weedy and scraggly, which is one overhang from DA:O where the bodies often lacked form, resembling scarecrows rather than people.

The facial animations still aren't as good as they could be - just look at Trip in Enslaved, it's amazingly well done and the voice feels like it's coming from her rather than obviously being a sound file playing while some ugly polygon model crudely animates (a la DA:O) - but it's a vast improvement all the same. Well done, Bioware animator people!

The point of the video is to compare on a leveled playing field, not show how it can look at it's best on high graphics, and consoles fill that role. DAO vs DA2 on PC isn't a leveled fight.
