One of the things I hated about DA:O was that the best bows in game were for only Lilliana and Nathaniel, so I never bothered leveling a ranger. I've heard that they may be doing something completely different with companion gear, not sure exactly what that is.

DA:O Lots of daggers, plenty of mail armor, and swords. Some leather armor. Crappy mage gear choices and crappy ring and necklace choices.

My mage wore the same chest peice for like 50% of the game, where as before some DLC came out my warrior would change gear alot, after some DLC came out I would go there right after Loethering and have some of the best chain/plate gear in game and not replace it until well in the game.
