i agree with some of ya'll that the main characters in a new installment of the series should not be from the previous games... cameos or mention of them would be aight. i think it would be cool if its a new custom character (not in the Alliance or Cerberus; been there, done that) taking place after ME3 and some kind of save transfer is used so the post-ME trilogy universe feels like the one we left behind.

Very true,  it should be obvious by now what some of the effects of the EA assim...err...partnership are.

Bioware used to take ~3 years to craft a game.  Now they're pushing them out yearly.  Bioware used to craft traditional RPGs,  even if they hid it from obvious sight*,  now they're trending towards TPS.

The only thing that's changed is who's in charge,  so it's relatively safe to say that the end result of the EA take over is the oft-discussed tendency for EA to push out sequels rapidly and usually without care for quality.

*Most people never realized that Knights of the Old Republic was turn based.  Which is highly ironic,  because most people will praise it and in the next sentence condemn those "Evil turn based games!".

I actually think a great idea for another ME game would be to have a co-op similar to perhaps Borderlands as in 2 - 4 people and you could do so many ways of gameplay.. Perhaps it is a group of Asari Commandos, from initiation to the final stand, or N7 squad, Quarians on their Pilgrimage? Batarian Pirates? O: Krogan Mercenaries? a group of Spectres righting wrongs and taking out high priority threats... Or.. maybe... just maybe you play as... The council.. It's a political based game. 3 players, and it is very very short. But no, there are lots of ideas for a 4 installment. Even if you don't play as shepard?

They have already said that they will be continuing the Mass Effect universe, but not with Commander Shepard. They have also hinted at a ME MMO, wouldn't that be crazy!

at the end of ME3 N7 ending were Shepard is alive couldn't they make it so that Shepard has to go rescue Joker and the others while on the way fighting the last elements of Cerberus and maybe even rachni, also i think they should make an RTS were you do the galaxy at war but you can still have the RPG storyline elements

I would personally not buy a Multi Player only game at all. I like the Single Player story driven games.

BioWare got already an MMO (TOR) so Mass effect MMO is just silly imo (they split thei'r own customer?)
I Hope to see a ME4 BUT..i don't want a prequel.I want a sequel..without shepard,maybe,but a sequel.Doesn't matter if is 10 thousand years after the Reaper war,just not prequel.

Hey all. New on here (posting wise lol) so though i'd say hello to you all. Been reading the comments and i agree that it's more "when" rather than "if" with EA. Not sure what the plot would be though. I haven't finished ME3 yet with my working hours lol.

It would be so awesome if they made another trilogy that takes place parallel to the original trilogy, where you actually got to see/hear about Shepard from a third person perspective. Kind of like they did with Dragon Age II. It basically takes place during the time of the events of Dragon Age: Origins, and you hear about the Grey Wardens from another perspective. It was really exciting hearing people talk about the Wardens.

Imagine a post-ME3 rpg world where the various races are trying to find a way to create new fast transportation relays,to build up the destroyed galaxy.
Or imagine a game that features the Illusive Man as the protagonist,and shows his story.

But unfortunately when the name EA gets involved the outcome is always the worst possible,so it more likely will be something that happens at the same time as ME3,and it will be an FPS with 8 hours campaign and mostly focused on online multiplayer.
They already started experimenting with it you know...

If a new Mass Effect game comes out,I want Bioware to go BACK TO BASICS,meaning to make a pure,hardcore rpg.
No shooter,no Gears of War or Call of Duty clones.Because clones are like clowns.

I hope so, the ending, for me, was unexpected. I was hoping for a little bit more but nevertheless, if an ME4 was going to be made I think it would be amazing to be able to select your race/allegiance/ and class and then do a story from there. Whether it involves the reapers, or some NEW enemy, it would pretty cool. I like how Bioware incorporated the multiplayer option, but If the could use it for something new in ME4, again, it would be pretty sweet. I really think a ME MMO would be cool ONLY if it was well designed, and available on the console. I am anxiously awaiting the news.

I think a new story will start with a new hero picking up Shepards gun where he fell (alive or dead) outside the beam and entering the citadel to truly finish off the reapers. This will then naturally progress to the hero being disgraced for also killing all synthetics. Shepard is worshipped alive or dead and we can see his story arc end. Years pass and it can then move on to a new plot using our new hero, where they use reaper tech to explore outside our galaxy and run into other empires.

Ejkeecha, your idea is original, but there would be many plot holes with your story. Keep in mind the options (trying to avoid spoilers here) at the endgame that you choose. Each one affects the galaxy in a different way. Whatever the player chose in ME3 would need to continue over to ME4 or it wouldn't work.

Seriously i am totally much intrigue how Cerberus had been made.
Also i am tired killing reapers it would be kinda cool you would experience the 1st contact war as Illusive man.

We all know Cerberus is a black spec team like N7 team and having played as Illusive man would give as much more customizable in this character than Shepard.

Kikkan, I forgot to mention that the endings were sheps fight against a certain theory floating around.

Even if they are not, maybe setting a few thousand years in the future can sort of diverge most story arcs.

ME4 goes through the events of 1-3 from the aspect of an unknown character that unknowing to us throughout 1-3 was helping shepard, because we can all agree Shepard was a little too capable, this other character could have been an agent of the council in ME1 helping keep an eye on Shepard while he was a spectre. The goal could be to relive our favourite moments from the seris from another 'eye' opening prospective, to be concluded with a meeting with Shepard at the end (Highly emotionional reunion due to a story line set before the series). It's out there but Bioware could pull it off.
