So I've been working on kaedrin's for my module and when I looked at his material, it looked like I can either build my campaign with kaedrin's built-in, or just make sure my module is compatible and if players want to use Kaedrin's Pack, then they need to make sure they have it.  It seems cleaner and simpler to just make sure my campaign is compatible and let the player decide if they want to use kaedrin's.  It also saves on download size for the campaign, since keadrin's won't be included.  The only downside I can think of is that if I don't build with Kaedrin's, then I can't put scrolls for kaedrin's spells in my module and people playing with Kaedrin's will only have access to the special spells at level up.

Do any players or builders have an opinion or experience with this to give advice on what they think provides a better play experience?

I think it really depends on how much conflicting things you have, 2das and scripts.

If you have very little to no conflicting content then I would suggest making the campaign compatible with kaedrin and not including it. This will allow for kaedrin to make updates to his content and it will be immediately avaliable to players.

If there are only a few compatability issues I would suggest going the route that LWPM did. Again the game was made compatable with kaedrin's content. Wyrin created 2 haks with the same name. 1 was the standard hak and one was compatible with kaedrin's content. This still had kaedrin's content as a seperate download. If an update was made the player could download the new kaedribn. Some of the new content would not be avaliable until an updated hak is created.
If the kaedrin compatible hak only had a spell.2da then all the other new content would be avaliable except for the new spells. However, several new feats may not work if they use new spells or spell like abilities that would be included in the new spell.2da that your hak is overriding.
Finally if there is a substancial amount of conflicting material then the best option may be to include the compliant version of kaedrin's content in the download. Only the most current edition is avaliable on the vault and there are several campaigns that are complient with older unavaliable version. Including kaedrin ensures that there will be on conflicts with 2das and scripts as new editions are released.

1. No conflicting content, kaedrin sperate
2. Minimum conflicting content. Include a hak that will create merge the conflicting content. Hak needs to be updated with future releases or the conflicting content will be avaliable with future updates.
3. Extensive conflcicts: Either do not make compatible or include kaedrin's version that is compatible. As newer version of kaedrin's content will cause large bugs with game play, and older version of kaedrin's are not avaliable on the vault and your game will become unplayable.

I did #3 with Risen Hero. I wanted to include the game and gave a companion a new base class and made it so several companions may be able to get some of his PRCs. May game will not work with out Kaedrin's content but later on if I am unable to make an update to the numerous 2das and scripts my game would become unplayable. So I contacted kaedrin and expressed how I would like to include his complient version with mu download as a required override file.

Hope this helps.
