There is absolutely NOTHING that creeps me out more than spiders, except maybe spiders the size of a large DOG (or an ELEPHANT in this case) that descend upon me from the ceiling, then pin me down and go to town.

I'll just continue the thread I mistakenly started here to ask an important question again:  Is there someone on the design team that likes spiders? Is Mike Laidlaw secretly some kind of wacked out spider propagandist?

And the rest of my anti-spider rant:

While playing DA:O I already had to close my eyes during pretty much the entire Ortan Thaig part of the Deep Roads because all those spiders were creeping me the f- out, and then you decide that it's a solid idea to add the biggest spider EVER to DAII? Sebastian's about the size of PART of that monster's LEG.

I would like to PLEAD with you to release a toolset, if only to enable some technically savvy person of WONDER to replace this humongous monster and all of its kin with something cute and fluffy for us to murder.

Spiders are a blight upon this world, the REAL punishment for the Original Sin, they have no place in video games. Their inclusion in any game should be grounds for... whatever authority to declare a game illegal.

Just say no to spiders.

I'm arachnophobic, but i''m not terrified of pictures or animated versions. Only the real things creep me out, when i can see them. But then again my phobia has got much better due to me wanting to be over it.

I use to be scared of spiders but I got over the fear when I realized the good old slipper would deal with them for me. As long as Bioware doesn't create big huge wasps with realistic wasp noises, I'm okay, though the spiders appearing from no where in DAO was a bit creepy/suprising at times, I never found it scary.

This spider looks MASSIVE though, can't wait to take it down.

Why, oh why would Bioware be so mean? I know they feed on our tears, but our screams too? Really? I spent the entire time in Ortan Thaig with my eyes shut too, spamming every attack button I could. Even switching to a mage or archer didn't work because they appear everywhere.

I spent 10 whole minutes running away from a bunch of them before as Leliana. It was HORRIBLE!

The best solution is one I saw someone else mention: set the game to casual and just take a break while your companions handle the spiders. That's the only way to get through the Ortan Thaig properly.

I had similar issues during the Mage Origin while trying to get the papers signed for the Rod of Fire. Thankfully I found out quickly that I didn't HAVE to do that quest, and could get either First Enchanter Irving or that senile, semi-blind senior enchanter to sign the papers for Owain.

It doesn't have to be kitties. They could be bears, or wolves, or anything that isn't a spider.

Well, not a centipede or a scorpion either, I'm not too fond of those either, though they're not spider-level threats.

If there's one thing in the world that's utterly disgusting and vile: it's a glistening, kind of hairy, screeching and HUGE spider. Ugh. And this is exactly why I like to see them in games--though not overdone. Kill it! Kill it now! Oh no, it's fast...

I'm not fond of spiders to put it mildly, but those don't seem so bad. The spiders in Dark Messiah creeped me out though. /shudder

Oh yes. The dark messiah ones were really creepy. They jumped every time they attacked and they climbed down the from the walls of that well you are in.

One thing I have learned that really helps is to put your volume lower (or completely off). That way: no shreiking, you don't get surprised that much (just put on some kick-ass rock song to get some bravado ) This is really a good tip for arachnophobes.

I won't mind fighting one of those but if this is the standard for all spiders and if they are as repetitive as the ones in DM (they were used in one or three fights EVERY lvl) then i'm going to be mildly pissed. Spiders aren't the most fun of enemies anyway. Demons are cooler

Spiders are for the most part wonderful creatures that just want to be left alone to spin their webs, catch insects that are far more annoying than them and live in peace. In a game full of scary ugly critters it is surprising to me that so many people get upset at spiders.

Since these are super-sized I am guessing they can overwhelm 2-3 people at a time.
