I'm soooo glad slugs aren't any good at moving around and doing damage...

In other words, I feel for you, arachnophobes, I feel for you.

Good. I hate spiders but I was seriously underwhelmed when the spider boss turned out to be the same small size as its runts. At least you can't see the eyes that well.

Except the rabbit would still move kinda like a spider, and have that spidery look in it's eye, like it's sizing you up for a meal.

You might even create this:

Arachnophobia is nothing... the chance of encountering a spider each day is pretty slim.

I on the hand have a messed up phobia of heights... by heights I mean if I am so much as more than 2 feet off the ground, I get dizzy and panicked. I cannot stand on a chair without breaking out into a sweat.

Although I do control my phobia, I suppose I had to learn to do so, otherwise I'd never be able to descend staircases, stand on a curb in the street, etc... so I can do all the things normal folk do, but deep down inside I'm fighting a messed up battle to control my fear and diverting a lot of my focus, concentration and sheer willpower to function normally (try to ask me to do basic math while walking down some stairs, and I'll fail horribly since 90% of my brain is focused on not panicking over the fact that level ground is a significant number of feet below me).

And if you're wondering why I have this phobia... it's cus I fell out of my 2nd story balcony apartment as a child and broke quite a few bones :)

Average person swallows a spider every night at least... it's not rare.

His link is just an evil bunny that's animated.

Yeah I don't think so. I've woken up by a spider walking on me when I sleep a couple of times, because they tickle. Why would they be able to stealth down into my mouth to get me to swallow it?

Cease your lies. Only children fall for this.

You can rest peacefully, because the chances of your swallowing a spider while you are asleep are almost none. And I only say almost none because nothing is impossible, I suppose. Not a single study has been done to date to quantify the spiders people swallow while sleeping. Why aren't scientists studying this phenomenon? Because it just doesn't happen!

In order to swallow a spider in your sleep, a number of unlikely coincidences would all have to occur in sequence. You'd have to be sleeping with your mouth pretty wide open. If a spider crawled on your face and over your lips, you'd likely feel it, so a spider would have to approach you by descending from the ceiling above you on a silk thread. The spider would have to hit the target – your mouth - dead center to avoid tickling your lips. And if it landed on your tongue, a highly-sensitive surface, you would feel it for sure. So the spider would have to land at the back of your throat without touching anything on the way in. And then you'd have to swallow.

But the real bottom line is this: spiders aren't going to voluntarily approach the mouth of a large predator. That's how a spider sees us, after all, as big, warm-blooded, threatening creatures that might eat them. What motivation would a spider have for crawling into your mouth?

Me either. I've seen a video of a giant centipede fighting, killing and eating a giant spider. Those things are hardcore, but scary enough that I refuse to accept them as an ally against spider-kind.

Am i the only one that was like "DIE" in Dragon Age Origins when they came from the ceiling and not getting scared? ^^
Also this quote will fit well for the big spiders "if it bleeds, we can kill it" ^^

Yep, it's a silly urban myth.

Now, what is important (if you go camping anyway), is to NOT clean the ear wax out of your ears. Most insects mandibles function effectively only in closing, not opening. Should an insect crawl into your ear and you not notice / feel it while asleep, it can cause significant damage to the ear cannal and ear drum... unless you have ear wax. Why? Simple, the moment they take 1 bite of the wax, their mandibles can no longer open... insects mandibles are designed to close / crush effectively, but the muscles used to open the mandible are vastly inferior... nearly identical to crocodiles & alligators (this is why it's so easy for a human to keep a croc's jaws closed with their bare hands... their mounths are strong enough to close down and crush every bone in your body like it was a wet tissue... but the muscles to open its jaw are as weak as a baby human's legs).

So... if you live in an insect infested home or go camping, leave your ear wax in your ear... and pay no heed to the swallowing spiders nonsense, as mentioned by the other fella, it's just a myth.

Don't forget, EARWIGS can fly.

True... it is a myth, though I can't resist the fear-propagation.

I remember back before DAO when the first screenshots of its spiders came out, we had to warn some arachnophobes about the shots, and they were FREAKING OUT.

So this is probably worse.

I feel for you. It must be horrible to fear heights that much, especially if it affects everyday things like using stairs and if it has resulted from such a traumatic experience.

However, it is hardly fair to say that arachnaphobia is 'nothing'. All phobias are phobias.

Heh I was jesting, I would not actually denegrate someone elses phobia (I even sort of get the phobia of spiders... as Bees... annoy me.. wouldn't say I'm afraid of them, but I get a bit.. on edge.. around them)... unless it's a phobia of clowns.. thats just... dumb. :)

Was merely constrasting my exceedingly frustrating phobia that plagues me several dozen times a day :)

On a brighter note, at least you're prepared to face your phobia since it's a more day-to-day thing you run into. Not making light of your phobia, just pointing out that - unlike spiders- 'height' isn't an eight-legged ninja.
