As noted, Shale came with every new copy of DA:O. I believe you're thinking of the Warden's Keep DLC.

That aside, the reason they can't include it in the retail game is that the content of the game must be locked down months before release. That's not to say they couldn't give it away with every new game purchase, but they decided to reward those who pre-ordered. I'd suggest waiting to see what the DLC reviews are like and if it seems worth it, pick it up. If not, you'll save yourself some bucks. Either way, you still get a complete game without the DLC.

Really?
You expect me to believe this?

I suppose a couple of thousands of dollars might have swung it into PAYED DLC zone, don't you agree?

hmm?

I have it for free and so does anyone else that has the SE. Not sure I am seeing your point.

Explain that to the people who got their SE cancelled,
I'm sure they will understand

Thats between them and the retailers.

They didn't decide to reward "those who pre-ordered", only those who pre-ordered by a certain deadline... I don't know what makes one pre-orderer better than another but that's not the point I wanted to make here. The point I wanted to make was that if I have a choice between paying for the content or not having it at all then I am happy to pay for it. It's a win/win. If you don't want it, you don't have to buy it, but it is available if you do.

There should be no DLC on release, its a stupid concept and EA/Bioware hasn't figured out how to do DLC properly.

I expect people to believe something that is factually accurate.

1. They could have given it away with every new game.
2. It's a reward for those who pre-ordered before January 11th.

Unless you have evidence that they couldn't make it a new game DLC or that those who get the Signature Edition aren't getting the Exiled Prince?

Yes, I too hate DLC on release date but Sebastian is something different, he was announced months ago and people who pre-ordered signature edition got something extra. Thats what signature edition was for.

Why couldn't they add this content to the retail game?
You expect me to pay $7.00 right after I payed $60.00 for a DIGITAL copy of a game?

Game publication has a time table that is different from DLC publication.  There is no rational reason to assume that the DLC could have been included with the finalized version of the game.  If you want extra content, then pay for it.  If you don't want it, then don't pay for it.  But they didn't take anything out of your game.

I think I'd rather have Sebastian when I start the game,
rather than after I finish it.

Tell the users that did "PREORDER" through a Digital Download service like Steam why couldnt they get the SE like everyone else whose preorder was automatically upgraded for them if they went else where.  Will I buy the DLC? Yes, but it would been nice if it was offered to me though the retailer of my choice for free like everyone else was.

They do hand out The Black Emporium for new copies(?), maybe thats the new "shale" for DA2 while The Exiled Prince is the "Wardens keep" for DA2, it's really the same as DA:O.

Because The SE was a timed deal for the game.

Sucks to be them.

That has nothing to do with Bioware--take it up with the pre-order police.

Super Mario World 4 (finally!)
~Day 1 DLC: Play with a second player as Luigi!

Joking aside, there are some people who really treat BioWare like their mothers - absolutely incapable of doing any wrong, ever. I like BioWare. Hell, I love 'em at this point. Their games have never failed to entertain me (though Jade Empire came close). But telling people that it is their own fault that their guaranteed pre-order SE editions are not available due to not enough copies being shipped, is... well, wait 'til your one of them. If there is any justice in the universe, you'll be there soon.

because you are practically spending close to 70 dollars for a game. This game isnt worth that money, only stupid people think so.   DLC should be use to expand an existing story  and tell new stories in an existing world. I mean if you are going to charge 7 dollars a character why only come out with one?? wouldnt make more sense to come out with multiple characters since you are doing a money grab anyway.

Direct2Drive and EAStore were offering it digitally sorry EA and Steam couldn't work out a deal but you had other choices to get the SE. You DIDN'T have to put all your eggs in one basket. Always have a back up plan.

It's not just the character, there's a whole plot beneath him adding more time for the game, thats why its called a DLC.
