It's funny until the American SE's start getting cancelled.

There should be no DLC on release, its a stupid concept and EA/Bioware hasn't figured out how to do DLC properly.

why not? What makes the concept so stupid?

because you are practically spending close to 70 dollars for a game. This game isnt worth that money, only stupid people think so.   DLC should be use to expand an existing story  and tell new stories in an existing world. I mean if you are going to charge 7 dollars a character why only come out with one?? wouldnt make more sense to come out with multiple characters since you are doing a money grab anyway.

It's not just the character, there's a whole plot beneath him adding more time for the game, thats why its called a DLC.

Oh you mean he gives you the reason why he is so F'dup and then you have the option to have gay sex with him. I cant wait for that!!

Your just avoiding the whole point, plus, he's not a LI,atleast for what we know,so, no gay sex for you.

It was announced in October 2010 if you pre-order the game by Jan 11th you would get it for free.  3 month window there, didn't even take any cash......just needed to pre-order.  At least its still available if you want it, it won't change your game if you get it or don't....just bonus crap....so?

I notice that on this forum the mods are quite reluctant to weild the ban hammer. They simply seem to lock threads and say don't do it.

1) I always preorder games I want atleast 3 months prior
2) There were other Digital Retailers offering, you should never put all your eggs in basket especially when its with EA and Steam
3) Bioware has already commented on this and its the retailers fault.

As I said in a previous thread always have a back up plan I put down 3 preorders prior to the announcement just in case something like this happens. It cost no money to put down a preorder and you can cancel anytime.

 Im a secret dev. lol

Wouldnt it make more sense to make as many characters then as possible since its all DLC moneygrab anyway if people dont buy it what difference would it make really. You know some retard will end up buying it all anyway

I'm glad Cobrawar's not banned, actually. Sometimes he does some high-grade trolling. That post was just kind of lazy.

Just means the price of the game is $67 on the first day if you want all the content.

Maybe in the future we can get the main quest from the main game, and the side quests are DLC.

You really think they put that much effort in making a game worth $67 (not including tax)  to buy it?

Yes.

If you don't like the price, wait for the ultimate edition or the GOTY edition.

I'm paying for the D1DLC and not complaining about it and will most assuredly love Dragon Age 2 unless they SERIOUSLY mess it up somehow which at this point seems unlikely.

They're a business, guys. They're not in for art, they're in for money. The artful product is a fantastic side effect of the fact that it makes them money so that they can stay alive (presumably doing something that they enjoy). They have to feed their children, and when they get to where they can afford to feed their children, then they have to get that shiny new yacht, and when they get to where they can afford the yacht, ...

So you can bet quite a bit that if people like myself and many others are willing to pay $7 for D1DLC, they're going to charge $7 and release D1DLC.

hehe this is once again funny. We had the exact same discussion regarding dao.

No it couldnt be included in the game. Different team, different budget, different timetable. Its content we would have to do without if it wasnt in the form of dlc. Since its finished during the time after DA 2s content was locked and the date of release, I prefer to get my hands on it at release rather than to wait just for waitings sake.

My SE is safe and sound at direct2drive, so I cant complain. It sucks to be those people that got thier preordered SEs canceled but thats hardly biowares fault.

I couldn't afford the SE pre-order during that special time-frame, I would have gotten it if I wasn't broke as a joke at the time. I happen to be living during a financial crunch and have other financial responsibilities in life, so I had to pass.

I will probably get all or at least most of the DLCs eventually, but certainly not right away, as I am anything but made of money.

As for me still getting a "complete game" and I "won't miss anything" if I choose not to get the DLC, since I know that the DLC exists, I won't at all feel like my game is "complete" and I will feel that I am indeed missing out on what I don't have. It may not wind up feeling unfinished or unpolished, but I can't consider it "complete" or "the full experience" if there is content out there that I don't have.

Ah well, life goes on.

As noted, Shale came with every new copy of DA:O. I believe you're thinking of the Warden's Keep DLC.

That aside, the reason they can't include it in the retail game is that the content of the game must be locked down months before release. That's not to say they couldn't give it away with every new game purchase, but they decided to reward those who pre-ordered. I'd suggest waiting to see what the DLC reviews are like and if it seems worth it, pick it up. If not, you'll save yourself some bucks. Either way, you still get a complete game without the DLC.

Tell the users that did "PREORDER" through a Digital Download service like Steam why couldnt they get the SE like everyone else whose preorder was automatically upgraded for them if they went else where.  Will I buy the DLC? Yes, but it would been nice if it was offered to me though the retailer of my choice for free like everyone else was.

It's not EA's fault if STeam doesn't want to take advantage of it. In this instance realise that STeam Sucks and you got boned for trusting them.  I personally wouldn't trust them for anything but maybe old games for Nostalgia's sake myself anyway.  Most of what I hear about them anywya is just selling old games for real cheap as online downloads all the time anyway.

You like dealing with them? That's all Well and cool. Your mad they aren't giving you something. Perhaps you should take it up with them as to why you aren't getting it.  Maybe you should go try spamming their forums for a while where it actually belongs instead of blaming EA.

people with that attitude are why Expansions were concieved of and sold in the first place. To keep you spending money and deciding your game wasn't complete unless you absolutely had it. Even though those who created it know that the game was indeed complete and everything else from DLC to expansions to whatever else were all side projects that they just realized they can make money off of.

Your Game's not complete because you don't have it? That's not EA's fault. At least they are willing to offer it to you at all.  I got old games on my shelf with the equivilant of Day 1 DLC sitting there that nobody ever got that extra content. I guess by your thinking those suckers never got the complete game. Yay me for getting it. Yay for EA for being smart enough or greedy enough to offer it to those that didn't get the chance because of various things like idiot companies that they don't control taking more pre-orders than they told EA about or Refusing to take part in offers that made them available in the first place for whatever reason.

Realize that while your complaining about EA being Greedy. It wasn't EA that screwed you over here.  If they are really greedy then they either don't offer it to anybody and make everybody buy it or they try to get these kinds of offers out everywhere because it makes them even more money.

I guess it's a pyschological thing. I mean, if you look at all the DLC from DA:O, if you add it all together it would be somewhat it's own game, a sequel. If they had packaged it all as one expansion pack, I don't think anyone would complain about nickel and diming us to death. But since it was released little by little, 7 dollars here, 5 dollars there, it feels like a ripoff.

This is bringing up the same feeling- if it's ready on release day, and I'm already paying 60 bucks, I should get it for free. If they had announced it 3 months from now with 15 other little extra sidequests and such, it'd be it's own expansion. But day of, it just feels too obviously a money grab.

Unlike collectors editions, SE cost the same price (in the USA anyways)
And as long as you pre-ordered it before what, Jan 11, 2011? You got the DLC free
