What would your perfect RPG be? If you could mix the talents of any studio, any part of any game... what would you choose?

Actually no, if CD Projekt took a different route and let players create their own witchers (free customization) then that would be perfect.

I feel Bioware has pretty much perfected RPGs
Hmm, not quite. Their worlds still feel too static.

Change BioWare by Obsidian and we have a winner.SudsyPatriarch wrote...
I´d like a game that mixes the free roaming of the elder scrolls series, the consequences in The Witcher, combat system from Demon´s souls, characters and dialogue from Bioware games and character designs from the guys who did Valkyrie Profile.

And add in the QA team of a company that doesn't make RPGs. Obsidian's writing is top notch, but they've yet to release a product that wasn't mired by terrible bugs. But it's not just them, most RPG devs seem to struggle with this. I wish I could get a game in the style of an RPG, but with the extreme polish of something made by Bungie. Say what you will about Halo, but those games are polished like I've never seen.

A weird mix between Neverwinter Nights and RPGMaker.

id's QA was usually pretty good: I'm optimistically hoping that with Zenimax's acquisition of them, some of it might rub off on Bethesda. Though I suspect they're pretty immune to QA.casedawgz wrote...

I guess with that in mind, an ideal RPG would be id's QA, Bethesda's open worlds and lore and Bioware's story and characters.
The "RPG from hell" would be id's lore, story and characters, Bethesda's QA and Bioware's open worlds.
