Basically hes not a fan of Bioware or DA, and is more suited to the JRPG.  Even though most JRPGs have a ton of filler combat and grinding between story as well.

actually worse..WRPGs tend to have the filler sure...but you don't have to gind to proceed.

how many JRPGs are you required to grind levels somewhere on randoms before you can tackle the next boss/area?

Final Fanties come to mind the most....

so yah..I agree with some of this..but overall...it's contradictory and not well put together at all.

Well i am not well put together either.  I contradict myself all the time its the only way to have a intelligent conversation.

This is not a TLDR version at all.

I like RPGs who have the decency to make the pointless. endless trash mobs thrown at me easy to kill so playing isn't a chore. You know, like well known japanese RPGs Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter nights, Fallout 1-3, Morrowind, Oblivion, the Might and Magic series, etc.

You're not a player that abandoned Origins after an hour or two. You're a player who made it all the way through the game and as played through it multiple times. Even if you haven't finished all those playthroughs.

That said, I think you've stumbled upon a problem with DA:O.

Your solution is a decent one: Let us mow through regular battles and only struggle with bosses.

Oh, people will rant about making it more like Dynasty Warriors, but Dynasty Warriors can be a fun, engaging game... until it becomes a tiring, repetitive game.

The first time I played Samurai Warriors (I have no PS), the skin on my right thumb began to peel off but I happily unlocked all the various characters and made my way through the chapters. At some point, however, the gameplay was less a fun, challenging means to get rewards and more a form of tedium.

I think your method would get more people to play for longer, but I don't think they'd finish. Quickly killing darkspawn for 60 hours isn't any more fun that slowly killing them for 80 hours.

And I think BioWare's goal should be to get more people to finish the game, not just play it a bit longer.

I've never played a single jRPG for more than 15 minutes.

Posted ImagePosted ImageWell, what games do you typically play?

western rpgs. The occasional shooter or rts thrown in.

Posted ImagePosted ImageWell, I'm not going to deny that there are definitely mixed enemies in DA2, going by the demo.  There are a few enemies with small lifebars that go down quite quickly, but there are several thrown in that take a bit longer to take down.  But from my experiences (and I've played the demo many times, and Origins many times), even the enemies with a lot of hp go down in a fairly timely manner.  Not to mention they keep the encounters from being overly easy, though they seem easier than Origins' trash mobs.  The ease of takedown is facillitated by how well you coordinate your party's attacks/abilities, the level of success almost certainly dependant on your chosen difficulty setting.  Based off of your posts, I'd say Casual is more appropriate for you.

I reccomend watching this video.  http://www.gamespot....ge_ii20110222   I'm guessing it's on normal.  Many of the enemies go down very quickly.

I haven't finished any of the playthroughs. Furthest I got was to deal with arl eamon's troubles, the circle's troubles and andraste's urn. Then I started on the deep roads and never finished (not counting minor quests here). I've played through a good chunk of the game but never actually got to the end.

Dude/chick you just showed that you have no idea what you are talking about.   BG2(developed by Obsidian was a WRPG) Neverwinter nights(Bioware), Fallout/elder scrolls games (Bethesda)  Might and Magic i cant remeber, but these are all WRPGS.

Japanese RPGS are like Final Fantasy games.

So go learn about RPGs and games in general and then form a opinion on fact and not subjective.

If he said that you dont know about RPGs and what is a JRPG vs a WRPG then yeah he was right.
I wasnt bashing you but come on you have to know what games are what type of game.
Is Super Mario Bros. a action rpg?

While this is true, FF games are usually considered the 'best' or at the very least the most well known JRPG. Also the only JRPG's i've played have been square-soft stuff.

I am pretty sure he meant "...like all well known JRPGs, and BG2, etc." He just missed a punctuation. Honestly though, every RPG is going to have grind. The difference is how each developer dresses it up to make it more bearable, and honestly, I must agree that generally, the JRPG lately (In the past 2~3 years or so) do a far better job at this than what we are seeing in WRPG now a day, Risen being the only exception.

The 'Best?'

Don't get me wrong, there a few good ones like six, seven eight nine and ten.

Then there are ones like...13.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. :)

Either way, I think you have a point. Your suggestion would lead to more people playing the game for longer.

I also think that there are were pacing and structural issues with DA:O that I hope BioWare has addressed with DA II.
