After downloading Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition off of STEAM, redeaming the DLC and loading up the game only to find out that all of the DLC is unauthorised, I hit the forums looking for an answer.

Seems that (at least for me) STEAM's version did not install the DAUpdater Service.

Here is what I had to do to fix it:

Goto: Program Files (x86) / Steam / steamapps / common / dragon age ultimate edition / redist

In that folder you will find two files:

DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam.exe

and

DAUServiceSetup_Steam.exe

What you will need to do is right click and Select the Run as Administrator on both of those files.  This should do two things.  1.  Add the proper files to your Offers folder and 2. Add the DAUSerivce to your Windows Services.

Now once you have that out of the way, you will need run the services.msc (same as going into the control panel/Admin tools/component services/Services (local) only faster).  Once you have the Services displayed, make sure that the Dragon Age: Orgins - Content Updater is started.  If not, right click on it and select Properties: change the start up type to Automatic and hit the start buttion and apply.

Now load up Dragon Age: Orgins.   Log into your account.  If your logged in then log out and log back in.  Then all of your DLC should no longer be unauthorised.

Hope this helps someone :)

I get all the way to this part and run into an error message:
"The system cannot find the path specified".

EDIT/UPDATE:
Error message notwithstanding, the fix seems to have worked. You're gorgeous. Thank you.

wow that worked for that issue!

Thanks!

Problem is I think my content was working regardless of the fact it said it was unauthorized. I went through all of Warden's Keep already. I actually stumbled across this cause my game was freezing a lot and I'm wondering if it's cause my content was unauthorized :P. Hopefully that's the reason...cause the game ran fine for about a week then out of nowhere started freezing really awkwardly two days ago and it's been doing it since. After about 5 to 10 min of gameplay. Really sucks...

I followed the instructions which the OP gave, still Witch Hunt dlc are being listed as 'Unauthorized' even though I've played through it many times before and got saves from that particular dlc. Kinda disappointing to see the content I've paid for are going 'unauthorized' from time to time on its own, and there is rarely any official help on this subject as it's mainly a developping flaw.

This appears to be a server problem on their end, these fixes won't work.

**Tear rolls down cheek**

Leave it to the forums to help me when EA couldn't. Thanks Amicabell-Chan for a simple, effective solution.

One other thing I did was set the updater to "Automatic" rather than manual start.

Oh thank God. I just finished DA2 and wanted to replay DAO with all the extras, so I downloaded the ultimate edition from steam, thinking, "sure, there've been problems with the DRM, but that was a *month* ago, surely it's been fixed..." After an hour of frustration, I finally found your post and *BOOM* -problem solved. You are a genius.

I tried what the OP said and for some reason I can play Dragon Age with all of the DLC, until I finish a conversation with one of the characters and then I get logged out of bioware and I have to log back in. This happens after every conversation my character has. Is there a fix for this?

For the record, I bought the Ultimate Edition recently and haven't had a single problem with DLC. It was already installed and ready to go first time I started the game. Perhaps the problems have been fixed.

I had an error when I ran as administrator the "DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML" that says.

"Error Opening File for writting

C:\\users\\myaccount\\Documents

Click to abort to stop the installation,  Retry or try again, Ignoe to skip this file"

and when I look for dragon age on services, I can  not find it

why should I do?

Running as administrator does not always work. Try running on an actual full administrator account. (This is a Windows issue, not a game issue. Running as administrator on a regular user account doesn't always set write permissions correctly.)

This might be a different problem, but when I run "DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML" the green bar in the installer get's to around 60% and seems to stop. No error messages or anything. Any ideas?
