Here's how I think it could happen:  In ME3, a rock/piece of metal is going to crack Tali's visor during battle.  She will unfortanetly die due to exposure/infection, but before she does so you will be able to talk to her/see her face. 

Thoughts?

It could work, and it will definitely pull me in emotionally, but I'd prefer it if there was an option to keep her alive as well.

If Bioware decides to kill my Tali they are gonna get nuked (you have been warned :3).

But seriously, I'm not too sure we will ever get to see how the quarians look under their suits.

Talimancers will probably hate you forever for even thinking that.

It could be interesting, and devastating, she is a good and loyal friend of most of my Sheps.

However it seems like a pointless death for the sake of drama only. I'd rather see some mad scientist use vorcha genetics or something and make them immune to disease.

My thoughts are...

I very much doubt that she would die immediately, which seems to be implied in your post.

Worst case is she dies later on in the game, but much later on. From Shepard's perspective, I would say as much as a day or two, depending on her immunological preparation for the mission.

Shep already saw her face and apparently she was do-able. That's good enough for me.

Personally I dont think we should see Tali's face, I think it gives her a level of mystique. If Bioware do decide to show it I think it will be a cop out.

Considering bullets have no effect on quarian visors, even at point-blank, a rock wouldn't do much.

Perhaps Tali has got something to do with "The Ultimate Sacrifice"? in the upcoming DLC? You know, suit rupture, still carries on, knowing she will die...or something.

Unless "Arrival" can't be completed after the Suicide Mission, it is very unlikely that the sacrifice will be one of the party members, since any one of them can die.

Even then, it certainly wouldn't be Tali: she's mission-critical. Legion can be given to Cerberus, and Kasumi is a DLC character. That just leaves Tali as the only squadmate who can make it through the vent shaft, and successfully hack the door. Sure, we could always sacrifice an under-skilled squadmate, but it seems unlikely that BioWare would force that onto us.

I really wouldn't mind it myself. I don't see why everyone is so obsessed with the idea of 'OMG THIS CHARACTER CAN'T DIE!'. Farscape proved just how emotional and functional the death of a major character could be and it didn't ruin anything at all.

Actually I agree with OP that's the only realistic way Tali's face could be shown to us, when she's dying.

I'd assume it would happen like she's mortally wounded after a battle and asks Shepard to take off her helmet for her, and then you would see her face then before she dies.

I won't be too bothered if I never see Tali's face. However, I will be if we never get to see what a Quarian looks like.. Even a photo in a comic would do. I just want an idea.

This reminds me of the discussions back when KotOR was released. In SW universe, the cortosis weave melee weapons can resist lightsabers, and some fans said "if it's so strong, why not build armor with that material and technique?".

And now someone can say "if the visors on Quarian masks are invincible, why not build whole armors with that material?"
