I know, but they should have told the retailer that it was a very low amount that was available, back when the whole pre-order started. - Also I just called EA and they said that you could order as many as you wanted back when the pre-order started. They also said that they haven't heard about this problem before.

Yeah. The problem is that there was no 'low amount' of Signature Edition. The pre-orders were in before the game went gold. The Signature Edition was made to order. If Gamestop ordered 600 copies, EA created 600 copies and shipped them to Gamestop.

There was a problem like this with the Collector's Edition of Dragon Age: Origins as well. People who pre-ordered from Gamestop got their orders canceled while I walked into my local Fry's and found 50 copies just sitting on the shelf. The store hadn't even bothered to stock the regular copy.

Whatever EA tried to do, they ****ed up. I suspect they'll lose a lot of money over this.

To the contrary, it's brilliant - they see how many people would have bought the special edition, they still produce fewer copies than pre-ordered (and keep in mind that outside of the happy rainbow Western world it was very limited and nearly un-attainable) and you still have to buy release day DLC for 7$ extra. EA figured if people would buy a SE so early and with barely any info on the game proper just for the added content they'd still buy it along with a normal copy - and a normal copy + DLC in the end is cheaper to produce and higher profit.

Brilliant, seriously. Because there will be enough stupid people to pre-order again and support EA's legal piracy of our wallets...

Hey, since you just bought that, wanna buy this too?
- Sure!

The preceding example =/= piracy by any means.

It's all digital, right?

Why can't they (EA) just give you the regular version and some DLC codes?

My best advice is to just forget about Bioware and buy Gears of War 3

The issue lies with the retailer accepting more pre-orders than they bought stock for. As has been said get in touch with Chris Priestly and others that have had issues with the same retailer and hopefully it gets sorted out for you.

Alright, so i pre-ordered Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition back at the 11th of January, and was quite thrilled about the whole ordeal, and the excellent demo only made me even more excited about DA2. I was starting to put on my robe and wizard hat, when something cataclysmic happened. Yesterday my birthday came along and a wonderful email from EA, giving me a $13-off code to use in their store online.  However, my moment of joy was short lived, as i got an email from the shop where i pre-ordered DA2, stating that my pre-order had been cancelled, due to EA not being able to deliver more than 10% of the total amout the store needed. :( So my pre-order of the otherwise awesome signature edition got canned, due to EA not being able to deliver. :crying:

Back when DA:O came out i took a leap of faith and bought the Digital Deluxe edition of it, not really knowing what the game was about, but ended up using around 56 hours in the game and really enoying myself. Now I won't be getting my hands on DA2. I really don't feel like pre-ordering the game again, without those nice pre-order bonuses. So what do I do now? Pre-order a normal version of the game, and aid EA anyway, or save my money and maybe buy Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or maybe something else?

Have any of you guys experienced the same, and if yes, what did you do?

- Dancegate aka. BelowZero

Hi:)

Yes i got a mail just like that as well...

And I will sure as hell not buy the normal edition now :(  Given the fact that the demo soucks as well!!!

maby (and just maby) i will get it in a year or tow when the prices are better!

flame off...

I dont know if this may explain it at all, but...I saw an add up in my local GameStop for the SE long after the promo for that had ended. If they took orders for the "SE" after the SE pre-order end date and expected to be able to order these extra copies after the fact,...that could explain why some stores are cancelling SE orders. Its simply a case that they ran the promo longer than they should have done, took pre-orders for the SE that should never have been SE, and then were screwed when EA said, "Sorry, the date for SE orders has passed".

The only "blame" here is that either the stores didnt understand the promo, OR they just didnt care. Of course I am not saying that this is why ALL the SE cancellations are happening, but it could explain some of them.

Oh, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to sell you the signature edition extras.

Similar thing happened to me.About 2 weeks ago the retailer which i had pre-ordered from, contacted me via e-mail,sayin that it was cancelled but did not explained why.I'm still waiting for an answer though. The fact that i preordered again, although the normal edition this time; Europe seems to suffer the most by that kind of issues.

Ouch...tough luck, pal. You have my condolences, even if I just pre-ordered the Standard Edition.

Hope you have better luck with EA's tech support or whatever you intend to do...when it comes to EA's support, you'll need it.

This reminds me of my Oblivion pre-order...the online store had ran out of copies cos' they had underestimated the number of orders (LOL supply and demand, marketing basics?) which meant that most pre-orders got their copy 2 weeks later. I cancelled my order the day it was supposed to be delivered, walked into a local department store and bought a copy off the shelf. The store send me a QQ email saying something that could I please make my cancels earlier from now on. I didn't bother with replying but neither did I ever use that store again.

Long story short, **** happens. It's possible that some trainee has made orders or something. Still, someone has to take responsibility and make customers happy so make sure you get credited, especially if you paid with a credit card in advance. As for getting the game...I really don't see why you shouldn't buy the game at all because of this. Just get the regular version from a department store or something if you don't want to support the store in question. As I said, **** happens.

They don't have to. Bad customer policy, but they didn't do anything wrong.

Damn that sucks...Sorry

I personally would just go ahead and get the standard edition.I wouldn't deprive myself of one of the biggest releases of the decade over  a sword and shield.

I won't call it the biggest release of the decade or of the year for that matter.

And they lose not just a sword and shield they get an extra character, sound track, and other things for the same price as the regular edition.

Lol maybe I'm too much of a fan but I would think mass effect and DA realeases are hugely anticipated if not for the gameplay then the storie at least ^_^ Unlike the soon to be disapointment skyrim...If only Betheseda would contract bioware to put a choice system in game and some romance *sigh*

Se gets a soundtrack? I didn't know that

It isn't just the DLC extras, it's the fact we're fans. It's hurtful to be betrayed like this.

On the contrary, they did things quite right. If your consumers are willing to grovel and beg for mere scraps then why not treat them like dirt? Personally, I'd like to thank all gamers for shaping this fine industry into what it is. A job well done!

Maybe caus they don´t offer the full game anymore? It´s not only about a few dumb "Cheat" Items, but about quests, compangions etc. which are cut from the main game for this DLC Crap.
