If I make a male character I always give them my first name as they are "me", so Jason Hawke in this case.

If I make a female character I always call them Alice, and I will probably play as a female first, as I preferred it in DA:O.

I'll just use the default name. Personally they just should have assigned the first name as well and be done with it. Does it really matter what your name is? No one will ever say it, they'll call you by your last name or by a title. A customizable first name only serves to separate one character from another. It once had a purpose before voice acting lines became the norm but now its just useless text.

I think the idea is once again to give the player some form of connection to the character, rather than simply running about and killing people.
