Logged In Check for Bonus Items/Add Ons Needs to be Removed

I understand why they put this in place as some form of protection, but the problem is (as with many badly thought out forms of copy protection) it penalizes legitimate customers far more than pirates. Treating your legit, paying customers like criminals is really not the way to go.
A few examples of why this needs to be removed:
1) It straight up works poorly. About 1/4 of the time I try to load a save, it gives me the error message about needing to be logged in even though I *AM* logged in.
2) A couple nights ago my DSL went down. I couldn't work, and obviously couldn't surf the web. I wanted to play some Dragon Age but I couldn't. Since I couldn't login to "phone home", I couldn't play from any of my saves.
3) Loading the game on a laptop to play while traveling is basically a non option. That's a darn shame.
The whole idea of having the game phone home simply because I am using a pre-order item or a DLC module is just a bad, bad idea. This needs to be rethought and removed.

As far as I can tell, my game is registered. How do I double check that?

As for double-checking the DLC, you would want to go to your Profile within the Social Network then Registered promotions under the said option on the menu bar.

I've been a bit concerned about this myself, my cable goes out frequently during nasty winter storms here.

To be honest I've never even 'seen' such a Pop-up other then that I have to be logged in to this specific account to use it and since I'm the only one upon the computer. If your set to Automatically Log Me In once your logged in it wont log you off until you tell it to.
This is all just based on my experience I'm pretty sure it shouldn't matter as long as you were logged in while you were online the first time and have it set to the proper option.

It should be automatically authenticated the moment you actually 'register' the game. The best option would be to just set yourself to 'automatically Log me In' within the game options menu.
That is what I have it set to. But regardless, even when it says "LOGGED IN" sometimes it bugs out and won't let me load my saves (saying I have special content installed that I cannot use unless I am logged in).
If I am offline entirely, its the same problem.
This is a pretty big problem imho, and it is basically a penalty to people who actually PAID for the game, bought DLC content, etc.
And I know my game is reigstered, but only because it says so in the menu options on the left, but I wouldn't even be able to post in many of the forums here otherwise.

I don't think you guys who are having trouble are representative of everyone.

If you haven't, it could be that this is the biggest issue because this is saying that the content is on the computer but you aren't registered to it nor is the content registered to any particular game.
I say this because while Im using a better computer (The content on it is from another install and purchase) I have it registered and so does he. So those who are having problems try registering the game that you have upon the BioWare Social network. This should fix any problems (At least I would hope) since this means it's not just registered to yoru account but it is also identifiable by the installation of that specific game.
P.S, sorry for the late reply and the sudden thought process, I was falling into my new addiction. <.< I do hope that this helps with your problems however.

The best thing that comes to mind for me is the Registered Content but saying that I've also started the game on this (I just noticed it) with a ring that I should have gotten but couldn't install upon my game. Perhaps it's an error with the program which prevents people from gaining access to it just because it's installed.

I think I know what might help, have you actually registered your game to the site?
My game is registered. If it wasn't, I wouldn't even be able to post in this forum.
I also went to the menu on the left and doublechecked.

It's only supposed to activate the first time and you should be able to run offline after that.

Might be a problem you'd only have if you downloaded all the Journeys/Pre-Order content...

With regard to the OP's (1), I have noticed that the game needs some time to verify your status. So if I start up the game and try to start playing right away, it will (9 out of 10 times) tell me that I need to be logged on. But if I wait 5 seconds, all will be fine.
I too admit that I'm not happy about the need to be online to be able to play your DLC. Upto a few weeks before the game was released, Fernando Melo specifically stated -several times- that you did not need to be logged in to play your DLC:

BioWare posters have stated repeatedly that DLC is meant to be useable offline.

And even in this thread Fernando Melo specifically stated that you do not need to be logged in to play DLC. The only exception he mentions if if you log in with a different account.
Well, that's definitely not the case with me. I only have one Bioware/EA account, I'm automatically logged in every time, I have everything installed on exactly 1 computer, and my IP address hasn't changed either. Still, if I'm not connected the game will complain that it can't authorize the DLC.
So it sounds like the system was originally intended to work offline, but that does not quite work.
Are there any specific cases known in which their system doesn't work?
