I was disappointed to see that embedding videos had intentionally been disabled but I understand the reasoning behind it. However, it really livens up a thread and makes the site actually feel like a social site, like Facebook or whatever.
I'd like to make the feature request that at least YouTube and XFire embeds be allowed. I'm saying this as a NWN 1 user but I've seen a lot of videos embedded in the Dragon Age forums, showing off this or that. YouTube is, of course, YouTube and XFIre allows for very easy capturing of video in-game and uploading it almost automatically, and much easier than YouTube.
You can check out my blog posts and see I've REALLY enjoyed using this feature.
What are the chances of this happening and would a poll of some sort help? This adds a lot of value to the Social site for me.
Allow embedding for at least YouTube, XFire?

Have countdown timers been disabled as well? People have asked me how to add one to their signature but everyone who's tried tells me they just get the html.

HTML is disabled.
Also, mentioned here, people managed to abuse the use of embedded videos. As these videos came from Youtube, I don't see how allowing videos specifically from there solves the problem. Writing a whole bunch of new code to fix the exploit would solve the problem. Add that to the list of wants and desires for the BSN site.

There are forums that have link of the Youtube video .
No embed code needed. Why not add it?
Why wasn't added even before?

the bbcode as mentioned above solves the embed issues that the site admins are worried about. it doesn't allow malicious code as it only allows for youtube videos. in order for xss exploits to work, the hack must originiate from youtube servers first.
bbcode tags only allow the use of the youtube video's identifier code. You can't inject iframes or embed other html coding. It looks like this: vra17ii_h1E
I know you have no control or extra influence, pacifien. This is just to clarify that not allowing bbcode for youtube has nothing to do with avoiding exploits. Most liekly it's because they don't want a bunch of videos spammed all over their forums.

Thanks for clarifying that, RGFrog! I checked and XFire videos work on exactly the same principle. For in-game video, XFire makes it incredibly easy to do. This is a really useful feature of the Social site, IMO! Does anyone know who made the Social site core software? I remember checking a long time ago and found the company- maybe they have an update/plugin to allow such functionality- or maybe there's a switch in the software which allows for this, anyway?
If it's a matter of potential spammage, it could be turned off for all but the NWN1. NWN2 & Dragon Age custom content creation forums, places like that...?
Heck, can this functionality be reinstated on a forum by forum basis? I don't need it everywhere, just the CC forums I mentioned, themselves. I'd love it in Blogs but I'd be happy with embeds/bbcode embeds for just a few specific forums where this really benefits the Social site's users.

I'd like to add my $.02 to the requests for some form of Youtube embedding. It's purely for selfish reasons as it adds greatly to the music threads in off-topic.
