There has been a complaint thread for every part of the game except the UI, so I thought I'd start one for any of those who doesnt like it!
-My gripes are they seem off for a fantasy setting. I know its supposed to streamline for casual players, but they look like Web 2.0 designs, Gradients and colored overlays! Not appropriate, IMO.
-Arent there already examples of good UI that integrates the same amount of textures and graphics not unlike that of DAO and BG? Im sure that in web designs(if indeed they were going that path), which focus on making things simpler and more intuitive, there exists examples that are like the original interfaces.
-That I need to go to a separate menu to do inventory and character abilities/skills/attributes is a break in immersion. In DAO, the inventory and journal was in an actual journal! that kinda helped the immersion factor. This is the smallest of my gripes though
-Is there anything in the interviews and or dev diaries that explain it? did they skimp the budget on this part? did they lack time to properly implement it?
Anybody?

Although it isn't by any means game-breaking, I do agree with you.
I like it when the user interface fits in with the games theme, Fallout for example has the Pip-Boy which is just a brilliant idea.
It would have been nice had they made it fit the "Medieval" theme a little more, but I don't think it will bother me all that much to be honest.

I agree completely, this is the only thing that has been really bugging me about DA2.

Yeah, it would have been better if it were fantasy themed but what can you do? At least it's not that bad. I'm fine with it..
