The problem is that Bioware/EA shouldn't have announced it if it wasn't going to be available for everyone. I thought I was safe ordering from EAstore, but never again. Like I said, they better have my sig ed goodies linked to the registration code or I'll rip them a big one. My UE download was a mess until after I spoke to 2 or 3 CS reps.

EA store is FUBAR, when i bought my DAO Ultimate edition, i have to download it twice, and the key they sent me was only for DAO + awakening, i have to w8 3 days before they could release the rest of the DLC on my account.

Never again i bought from EA

I believe it was stated the file size was attributed to new compression techniques and such. I'm probably mistaken though.

For those who bought through Steam ( myself included) and are wondering about the Pre-Load:

Steam versions use Steam DRM, no other DRM is added, which means:

    * No disc check, it is used for digital game versions purchased from Steam only.

    * No limit to the total number of PCs you can install the game on.

    * There is a limit to the number of unique/different PCs that can play the game at any one time (if online) [1 PC].

    * Each install requires logging into your Steam account to verify game ownership.

    *  You can play offline thereafter.  If online, a game ownership check happens each time you play.

    * Steam pre-loads use Steam release control – you will not be able to play until the release day/time has passed for that region.

Have you been able to preload, Sargerus? I've been sitting here with Steam open for almost three hours.

I will repost this in case no one wants to read the EA post.

"Everyone rest assured, if you got the pre-order confirmation email, the game will be visible in EADM starting tomorrow around 4:00pm PST.

Thanks! "

The time is not what was announced, however at least information was provided.

This was posted on their forums yesterday so they should not have issued out emails at noon (that's when I got mine) saying you can download it now when they posted the time on their forums. It's a mess up they made and so people are going to get mad about it due to miscommunication. What EA should be doing is damage control by having their tech support know what's going on and giving them some sort of info on what happened rather than not knowing what's going on. If I were one of the heads at EA I would be sending out another email apologzing for the screw up not staying silent about it. It's just proper to do so.

Still no preload for Steam. Not that I was really expecting it would be up at the scheduled time, but I was hoping.

No reason to whether you predownload it today or until the 7th the result is the same you wait until the 8th.

Yes... it uses the Steam *release* control, and you won't be able to *play* until release time.  That has nothing to do with when the preload itself is available.

Preloading is not available for all retailers so there might not be a steam preload.

There was a steam preload for DAO, I don't see why there wouldn't be one for DA2

Can somebody tell me why it is not possible to have just one unlock date for Dragon Age II for the whole world? I can understand the necessity of having different download dates to lower the risk of server problems but different dates to use the game.. I just can't figure.

Thanks

I'd be surprised if there was no preload at all. Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect 2 both had preloads.

Of course the fact that Steam couldn't get the Signature Edition does leave me a tad worried.

My Gamestop digital pre-load just activated, currently downloading. It says Signature Edition, but I just hope I don't get screwed on the bonuses.

Got the email, downloaded and all looked well until I tried my luck and went to start it up.

"Your release date will be: March-10-11, 17:03"

I'm in Canada, but the game thinks I'm in South America?

Also: EA, please just let Valve win and stop trying to leverage your properties against Steam. We want an efficient, clear, one-stop online shop. You cannot provide that. Stop trying to make us use your inferior system.

If there was no preload, there wouldn't be any need for them to mention the release timer.

Seems that gamersgate will be offering preloading for da2 that releases on 11 march but not for the version that releases on the 8tth according to their site.
