We're buying from the EA Store. I think that kinda removes us from the advice-giving pool

I would normally agree.  But, I think being able to play at midnight trumps having to wait till 10 am PST.  For me, that's like a 12 hour difference, and if some of my european thieves are to be believed, you can beat the game in about 15 hours.  I will likely pull an all nighter and then make fun of the D2D people!

Why people are so excited for the pre-load to begin through they can't play the game till 2~3 days..

I'll be up at midnight Monday night clicking "send info" in my D2D page in a kind of useless hope that they'll pull their heads out and release the codes. And if they don't, I guess I'll have to settle for getting my SE files and then and getting a good night's sleep.

I don't want sleep, I want the sun to come up on my bloodshot eyes while I enjoy my first playthrough.

True, but right now I'm kinda scared whether we'll get the game at all before release. My connection is very slow and it'll take me forever to download anything. Maybe next time I should just get a disc and save myself this mental hassle.

• The time of your request for refund/credit is fewer than 48 hours from time of purchase
• The game has not been activated
• The game activation key has not been disclosed to you by email or webpage*
• We find your request reasonable due to special circumstances

That first point might be a stickler, depending on when you actually put in your pre-order, but it might still be worth arguing with their support if you don't want to wait till 10 am PST.

The most important point is almost certainly the fact that they have not sent you the key yet and the game is not activated. I'd still give it a shot. Worse that can happen is they say no, and you're stuck in the same position you currently are.

Several people have been dissing preloads in this topic. They're great because:

1.) Someone who preloads the game will be able to play it faster than someone who buys it retail, or has a non-preloaded digital copy.

2.) It's smart from a business/technology standpoint, especially with high-profile releases like this one, to spread out the strain on your servers over several days, rather than dealing with a crippling spike in network activity when several hundred thousand users all try to start downloading the game on release day. Not to mention not having to deal with angry customers when this makes the servers go down.

3.) Pure nerdy emotional satisfaction of knowing you have the game and it's good to go the second it's officially released.

Is anyone else having a problem with the Gamestop preload installer? I downloaded the installer files successfully according to the downloader, but when I come to running the installer executable, it auto-exits after I click "Yes" to the "Are you sure you want to run this" security prompt.

Just got home from work. What's the deal with the preload? Wasn't it supposed to be available already??

It depends, some have it working some dont and alot of the release dates seem to be buggered.
