If somehow you coerce the retailer into selling you it, yes, they can't content lock it.

I hope you do mate but i have to say Play have been terrible lately. I used to get stuff early but my last 3 preorders have been days late. I got Killzone 3 on wednesday... is was out last friday!! I have officially changed to a new online store for preorders.

EA customer service can have some issues with being consistent in their information/answers.  I'd say wait and see what happens tommorow around the time the pre-download is supposed to unlock.  As long as we get to pre-download it before the release date, then I really have no room to complain I guess.

Good, this will give me time to deal with the EA Store.
It still hasn't registered that I bought / ordered DA2.

...In fact, it only recognizes my account exists every couple of hours or so.

Just out of interest, what are good sites to get preorders on release day or perhaps earlier if you're lucky, in the UK and Ireland? Sorry for the off topicness

Meh. It's still locked for us. If console users get it early, they get to start playing early (just won't unlock achievements or be able to download DLC). If you were going to get it early, which would you rather? Get it early on PC and just have it sit inertly on your HD, or get it early on console and actually be able to start playing the basic game? Not complaining; just observing a fact. Different platforms are different.

Gamestop's site doesn't say when the digital pre-load will be available for loading and playing (ie. unlocking). Has anyone had any experience with them?

So are those unlock time local or what? I mean, midnight Eastern in the US is 9PM on the west coast. And I've never heard of a game unlocking by timezones. Or is it midnight GMT?  Because that would be hours earlier in the US.

More clarification is needed, please.

Those may vary but the OP refers to the unlock times for retail version being the same, meaning the time the EA servers will allow authentication of the PC version.  While it's not going to matter the exact time to people who pick up their copy during the day, there are going to be some who get their copy at midnight (Walmart, for example, puts games out at midnight at their 24 hour locations) so for those people the details matter.
