So according to the download page on Direct2Drive they will not release the key codes until 10am PST. I could be playing at midnight if I wouldn't have bought it from them! Looks like I won't be playing until Noon in my time zone.
Although....I did get the game for $37.07 due to them accidentally letting me use my 15% member discount and a 20% coupon together
Create a support request and ask them why. Seriously.
I burned one of my precious vacation days for this. I want to play as much as humanly possible.
Actually already did.

What. The. Hell.
Dragon Age, I like. The story writers, I like. The named staff, I like. You, I like. Bioware, I like. Whoever decided this schedule? Well I'll just say they should be left out in the Deep Roads with a crossbow and a single bolt.
Can't agree more, whoever made this schedule doesn't seem to have an understanding of time... or doesn't have a map :S
Well I guess they got one thing right, the people of Kirkwall will be rising in rebellion.

Just not in the free marshes, although it is to the north of the place they based Ferelden on, you know. It seems a little cheap the country they based three quarters of the protagonists' cultures on gets the game later than a country which only donated a few dozen accents, and the bad guys in a novel.
We even have a spirit of vengeance, it's called whisky you

I live in Russia and have preordered the SE from EA Store on the 5th of January. The preload was supposed to be available for me more than a day ago. I used the live chat support thingy and a guy from EA told me I should wait 12-24 hours more. So if anyone is having similar problems, don't bother contacting the support, they'll just tell you to wait.

Pop in a complaint like I did - it doesn't make sense for them to withhold the key for installation. The more complaints, the better.

Having to wait until the 8th when it's on the machine is bad, but I really hope the times all get switched to 00:00.
Anyone else buy from EA and getting this: Your release date will be: Tuesday, March 08, 2011, 03:00
???
Unfortunately, games won't unlock at 00:00 local time for everyone. Usually a company like steam will unlock a game at 00:00 Eastern Time (USA). Having to wait for each time zone would be rediculous. In the past, I've seen games unlock for US/CAN all at the same time... usually based on ET as ET comes first.. then I've seen EU games usually unlock at 00:00 GMT+-0 (BST).
Are people completely nonsensical? The Release Date Checker isn't vendor specific. It's quering some master server.
Steam, yes, has its own unique snowflake checker, but every other digital release is using the same Release Date Checker that is quering that master server.
So, the question is, why are the times we getting different from what was posted by Chris? The argument that they only suggest those times makes little sense. It's a master server. This isn't some seperate server that Impulse only uses for their games, and another seperate server that EA only uses for their games, etc, etc.
And, 0300 hours is just /boggle no matter how you look at it. I mean, you have to sit there and ask yourself, "what was going through the person's head when they input 0300 hours into the securom server as the unlock time"? Seriously.
So, the reason we keep bringing it up is in the hopes that someone was just really bad at their job and that they will go back and change 0300 to 0000 on that securom server.

Read this morning that the game is shorter than origins but faster in main campaign quests.... hmmm do we pass the first city and then the final boss?.... you finish the game in 5h? hmm
News out of europe from less...ethical channels puts the main questline at 15 hours. Ultimately, the length is going to be relative; everyone plays these games at different paces. A good estimate is probably to take your Origins time and multiply by 0.57. The Gameinformer reporter took 70 hours to do everything in origins and 40 to do everything in DA:2.

(yes, I left the typo's in on purpose)Its possible that keys will be made available before the game's release but we are unable to confirm this information. We are unable to provide keys until they have been recevied by the game's publisher.
It's clear BW is not at fault here, and considering that other digital download shops are providing their downloads with keys, I doubt that EA wouldn't include D2D in that.
Something else to keep in mind is that EA has no reason to withhold keys until release either (and they don't), since they have that release-check-thingie when you first start the game.
I sure hope they won't let me down - so far D2D has always served me well.

Which means it is just D2D being lazy good to know.

I just downloaded my copy from Amazon (for $47.99) and installed it. I ran it to see what it would say and I too was surprised at the 04:00 time. I was hoping to sneak in an hour of play at midnight!

I also bought DA:O and ME2 from the EA store - both unlocked pretty much exactly at Midnight, at least 16-18 hours before the Steam version.

could it have to do with different timezones? If they Unlock the Server at Midnight for the whole US, maybe it's a Server in/near LA. Depending on where you are, the Unlocking happens several hours later.
No. It makes no sense. For example, I am in CST. 0300 hours is not 0000 hours anywhere in the US. So, the timezone argument holds no water.
